That four inches difference in width could be very significant.
Especially when you consider that there were rumors the Alpha platform originally wasn't designed to accommodate an engine the size of a V8. How wide is the Twin Turbo 6 in the ATS-V? |

Not sure how wide the LF4 is, but it is a 60 degree V as opposed to the 90 degree V of the V8's. That would make it narrower, BUT there is also additional plumbing that goes from the turbo up over the heads to the intake manifold.

I never recalled hearing that alpha was not originally designed for a V8.
