No, it sounds like they did, judging by the fact that failures stopped happening from what we can tell after the november 2017 build dates.

Well...
I guess at this time we'll just have to wait and see what happens. It's a fact that GM will NEVER tell us what's what with this issue. I would have hoped they would...since it's an outsourced part ...not something their primary engineering caused. But they just don't really know how to deal with these issues very well, IMO. We would still be a ton better off if they would just give us a good "new" part and put it in at their cost before a catastrophic failure cost them an entire new engine. Piss poor thinking on their part, and the kind of thinking that can drive buyers away... I have a 10 year 115k mile extended warranty, but l don't really want to deal with this type of issue....and GM should step up and do the right thing.

I'd say it's not even 6% of cars having this issue, or it would be like dooms day for these things. Everyone knows how people are more likely to post when something negative happens than positive. I have a February 2017 build here with no issues.

Oil pump failed
I just had my oil pump fail, 2018 2SS Automatic, bought in August of 2017. But I have over 80,000 Km’s on mine. Only tracked it twice and followed the proper track prep as well. It was fully covered under the power train warranty. Now I’ve just traded it in for a 2020 ZL1 6 speed I pick up at the end of the month. To find after some research a possible fuel pump regulator problem with this one, Dated Nov 2019.

I think you will find it was probably produced in late 2017, he had the months right just not the actual year. Cars built in late 2017 are actually sold as a 2018.

What are the Brands and part numbers for aftermarket oil pumps for the GenV LT4
that will correct the problems/weaknesses in the factory LT4 oil pump ? It seems to me after reading all the posts re: oil pump failures on 2017-2019 LT4 ZL1 the problem is similar to the problem the Mustang Coyotes have when they add a supercharger to an NA engine. The powdered metal components/gears must be replaced with billet steel gears. The harmonics, stresses on the crankshaft from the supercharger appears to be breaking the powdered metal components/gears in the oil pumps. Thats why Katech has a billet solution for the Dry sump LT4 oil pump, because it replaced the oil pump gears with billet steel parts. I think the powdered metal parts inside the LT1/LT4 Wet sump oil pump need to be replaced by billet steel parts made by some aftermarket company. I have reached out to Katech and they are working on it but with this Corona crap it is slowing them down a bit. I am going to get one no matter what. If anything it will benefit the oil pressure and engine care.

I called Katech today and yes, they are working on the LT4 Wet sump oil pump. Billet innards and possibly billet cover. This will give us a lot more comfort on future builds/mods |

Just an FYI, I know we have all the Covid B.S. to deal with but they have been "working on it" since September of last year. I called before i replaced mine with the latest part number from GM. Just wanted to throw this out there in case people are thinking it may show up soon. I can't speak for Katech but I know everything manufactoring wise is really suffering |

Katech engineering group is on furlough and not working now. Yes they say working on it but obviously not right now. Last time I talked to them Monday they said that hopefully by the end of May they might have something.

Just to add some data of my own...
My engine was pulled and built at less than 5000 miles. I have had over 850 crank horsepower for the past 15000 miles. About to hit 20k. I have beat the snot out of my car for the past 2 years driving it the way its mean to be driven. Drag strip, road racing at various tracks like Buttonwillow, ACS, Chuckwalla. I have driven the car to 3 different states for long stretches and never had an issue with the pump. Always shows proper oil pressure and when I get on the throttle is raises like she's supposed to... I dont know if having mine removed and seals replaced when the cam swap was done had something to do with my success, but count mine as one of the good ones.

I still find it bizzare that the LT4 engine has been around since 2016 now and there still isn't an aftermarket oil pump available. WTF?
I have read where people can make an LS3 pump work, but come on....
