I'm just back from my first full weekend on RE71R's only (didn't bring slicks). I'm astonished by the RE71R's the more I drive them. Definitely on par with a NT01 from overall lap time, slightly better lateral grip than OE G3's, and definitely better longitudinal grip. That said... they're also wearing faster than the G3's!
How about lap time difference between G3's and RE71r's?

Thanks

Sorry, haven't driven the same tracks to offer time differential. It's a slight advantage, nothing huge... maybe .5-.7 per lap. The G3's are a damn solid tire.

Nice video and feedback! What phone mount are you using and do you like it?

That's one heck of an endorsement for stocker shoes regarding your NT01 comment, but I am not surprised as I have heard nothing but superlatives about the RE71R, especially from Pcar guys and also some blogs, that suggest folks are moving to them from Cup2s. And that's pretty big IMO.

For those who might be interested, A great read about the RE71Rs vs NT01:

Nice find Cem! Pretty much exactly what Provoste was saying and your own test also suggests that a delta between some new "streets" vs Rcomps might be non existent. "Uber" Rcomps will still prevail, but at a very high price in comparison and likely much reduced longevity, single purpose design, etc.

Now this is what really blows my mind:
If RE71R is as fast as NT01....and G3 is sooo very close to the former....WOW the stock set up and its value proposition. GM really hit one out of the park here (with Good Years help of course).

Can't help but wonder what that means for the new 3Rs....

Is there any UTQG info on the Supercar 3R yet? My initial hunch is its same compound but less tread, but the treadwear relativism will be helpful to ascertain that.

It's a new compound. Goodyear's first entry in the "street cup" tire segment, as Al O. put it.

No word on treadwear, yet...even in pictures, the tires have no indication in that spot. But the tread pattern and depth looks very similar to Trofeo R.

Ok cool. Trade treadwear for grip, that's what the "streetable track" category is all about.

100. Completely different tread design. Funny, the fronts had the the info omitted, the rears I remember seeing stamped 100 treadwear, because my buddy with trofeos mentioned how similar the tread design was to the pirelli but with a higher treadwear rating.

I too thought they looked like Trofeos.
Less and shallower tread means better heat management. But crappy wet capabilities.
Still, it could be THE tire for a square 305 set up for the track!
