31 miles on a pre-ordered car....

I'd DEFINITELY have some questions and the dealer would have a lot of explaining to do on that one...

Mine had 23. Wouldn't be shocked if some jerk at the dealership took it on a 10 mile joy ride before I picked it up. Oh well.

Agreed mine was 8 miles on an ordered car after a fuel up.

Can ask for the car history and see what it was delivered with.

Mine did have 34 but I just walked onto a lot that day and left with the car several hours later. Have to expect a couple people test drove it before me.

If I put a deposit down on a car and it was delivered for the express reason that I would buy it, that would be a hard pill to swallow. Anything over 10-15 miles is highly suspect.

I special order a car precisely because I don't want people joy riding in it. If I showed up and MY car had that many miles on it, my dealer had better have a very convincing reason as to why...

I think setting the expectation with the dealer that YOUR car isn't some sort of demo vehicle goes a long way. After all, it is YOUR car...

Mine had 4 minles when I picked it up, like others have said, anything more than 10 miles and I'd be asking questions for sure!

My C7 had 2 miles on it when I picked it up. (Apples and oranges, but yeah, I'd be asking questions about it...)

It's good to set expectations though - I'm 100% on board with that.
I just get the impression that these guys will do what they need to do to get sales. For instance, I don't think they would be above letting a potential customer sit in MY CAR or worse, take it for a spin.

I mean there's a new Corvette in the showroom that says it is sold already but people can feel free to walk up to it, sit in it, flick a booger in it or air hump it.

Well considering the test drive route we took was close to ten miles round trip, mostly highway, its not unreasonable. And that tally was after my test drive by the way. So did a couple potential buyers test drive the car? Probably. Not the end of the world.

People are welcome to gawk, drool, air hump or whatever makes them happy when they look at my car.

I just don't want them taking it out and thrashing it around the block.

I called my dealer today and asked him how many miles I should expect the car to have on it when I took delivery. His answer was single digits, including the technician check that it gets after it arrives at the dealer. He even offered to opt me out of that if I wanted. I just set the expectation with the dealer that I don't want to see any more miles than absolutely necessary on my car when I take delivery -- he gets it, so we're all good.

The last four GM cars I bought were ordered from the factory. They all had 3 miles when I picked them up.
