Here is what a workbench looks like....check to see it is in your name in case you need price protection for price increases. If it's in the dealer name, then any price increases gonna be passed on to you. The second thing is the code ...remember anything below code 2000 and Chevy doesn't know who you are.
That's interesting. I have a GM case number to go with my order number. But every order I have placed the order type is TRE retail stock. I've even questioned this. They have my name as the stock number and also contact name. Has this code changed. I questioned this (not with this order) because to me retail stock means open inventory. They did have me call GM and add the Order number to my case file number?? The car did get to 3000 within 48 hours of the order being placed.
Just curious if they changed that code since I've had two orders the same way.

No changes. SRE has stood for retail sold and TRE for dealer stock as far back as I can remember and at least a decade before I saw my first OrderWORKBENCH.

I have cautioned about checking for SRE because my Gen5 pre-order went in TRE even though it had my name etc. on the Workbench. Between ordering in October and delivery in June there was a non MSRP price increase. Fortunately for me the order was MSRP minus $200 or GSU if my GMCard points could be used, and since the points could not be used with Program Pricing I went with the first. In the end the dollar amount I paid was very close, I think the difference was $60.

This is a car to replace the one I just got, so I'm driving one until I get this one. I didn't question this dealer on it. I questioned the first dealership that ordered the car for me. I assumed retail stock meant just that. Dealer kind of screwed themselves, this shouldn't have affected their allotment. I ended up walking away from the first dealer when they told me the car had been 3800 for months and gave me a TPW that was still two weeks away. They still haven't received that car either.
As I mentioned there is a GM file attached to the order and I ordered it Tuesday and have a TPW today, so I don't anticipate any lengthy delays.

Dealer sent me this:

"Here is the build sheet for your new Camaro. As soon as I get the VIN and ETA, I will forward those to you."

Not sure what it means,

then just sent me a sheet with my order (the car, trim, the options I chose.)

I asked for a workbench and if they had allocations and he said
"You Camaro is ordered, the next step is to await the time frame for build complete. I will keep you in the know as soon as I receive this information."

It sounds like to me you're dealer is trying to keep you from checking on you're orders true status by not giving you the info you need, and expecting you to trust him to let you know when it has been built. I would be calling back on Monday and telling them you know of the "Order Workbench" and that you want a copy of that. It will include you're Order # and you can then have Becky check you'er status and make sure you're order truly is being processed or not. Do not let them give you anything but the "Order Workbench" and do not let them give you the run around, demand a copy of the "Order Workbench" The more they try to keep it from you the more chance there is that they are trying to hide something from you!!

the dealer i first ordered from gave the same run-around.
Maybe they ordered it, maybe they didn't. They're in control. I guess they can say whatever they want.

Not for me! If you put a deposit it's SRE and you deserve an order number.

Besides, checking the status of your order is half the fun.

Good idea. Thanks for the tips! Laborsmith says not to pay deposit until an order number is given. Another good idea.

New here. Wish I would have read this thread before I ordered. I'll probably be going back on Monday and ask for the Order Workbench and what their allocation is.

Took me 2 weeks to get an order #, now it's been almost a week trying to get allocation info. My status stuck at 1100 :(

I was told the dealer had an allocation for 2SS convertible on 2/8. I ordered my car on 2/5. I called on 2/8 and they had the order number and build date. No problem so far. I checked with Chevrolet on their site and they confirmed the build date.

I forgot to get a build number. As long as it's built (VIN released) before end of March, I'm good.

The salesman that I was working with on my trade (haven't ordered yet) just told me on the phone that Camaros don't have allocation, only corvettes lol.
