I wanted to briefly share, for anyone interested.

I upgraded my ZL1 1LE brakes from essex with their AP racing brakes front and rear.
I felt like the OEM brakes were the weakest point on the car 15 minutes into track sessions. I was not sure how much of an upgrade it would be.

Just returned from Road America and they exceeded my expectations. Running a full 30 minutes of sub 2:30 laps these brakes had zero fade. Super impressed. Worth the about $10k after parts and labor in my opinion.

Essex is coming out with a 390mm front brake kit that will match the size of the OE rotor.

I will be ordering those as soon as they are released.

These brakes are more than the 3R tires can handle. I think I'm going to slicks soon, I would be interested in upgrading to the new bigger brakes too. Do you know when they will come out?

There is a pretty good discussion going right now on a Camaro facebook group about this very topic. What pads are you running on the 372mm kit?

Curious what fluids and pads you were running on the OEM setup, Ive never got them to fade even in hot Florida summer.

I run either stock pads w/ SRF or DTC70's w/ SRF. I probably did 50+ days and 2 years sticking with stock pads and was very surprised at how well they handled my driving. They faded, but it was predictable and manageable.

I held out as long as possible going to a trackpad because of what they did to my old SS 1LE calipers, they got destroyed from the heat. I finally did one event with the DTC70's and honestly, I wasnt super impressed. I am going to try Ti shims w/ the 70's at my next event to see if the heat is managed any better. Otherwise, an AP kit may be needed now that I have more aero.

Fyi, I ran consistent 1:35's over the course of a 25-minute session at Laguna Seca completely stock (with SRF) and they held fine. Laguna Seca is incredibly hard on brakes and 1:35's aint slow. Very surprised w/ stock pads.

The only reason I am looking into brake options is because of the added aero and my potential new tires (Toyo RR). Stock pads wouldnt handle it.

I just pulled the trigger myself. Been debating myself where to spend the $10K to help with better lap times; AP brakes or Maggy and cooling upgrades.

Decided on the former; figured not having to worry about fading brakes allows me to focus on driving.

Install happening this week.

They were hoping to be out by now but have been delayed for obvious reasons. Probably in the next 2 weeks or so I hope.

Would agree completely......even with the 372's having a smaller swept area than the oems, major upgrade in braking performance and zero fade.

I use the 3.12 compound and Ferodo fluid. Highly recommend the 9668 front set (Enduro pads).

This made the brakes as great as the rest of the car!

Well said, it made the brakes as good as the rest of the car.
Are you running square wheels and tires? Can I ask what wheels?
Was there a huge difference over stock tires?

I could not help but notice in that picture, those tires are 18 inch. So, if they come out with bigger front brakes for that Essex kit, will you have to go back to a 19?

OEM brakes fit with 18s
