Trunk Issue

So long story, maybe someone can help.
The lady lost her wedding ring in the trunk and I pretty much tore it apart trying to find it. Somehow it started not being able to open with the FOB, and in order to look at it, I pulled the emergency release a little hard and broke it off. Any advice on first steps to remedy this issue?

First off, find that ring or your in trouble.
Second, try replacing fob battery to see if that fixes it, if not maybe a new fob is in order.
Replace that emergency pull handle (because I don’t know how we ever survived before that came out).
Let us know how it goes as I’m sure many others have great advice to help you if mine does not.
Good luck

Here's a YouTube video for a 2014 Malibu. Maybe they're similar.

So, I have fixed the emergency pull down and it works however, the fob button or interior button still won't release the trunk. I can hear the relay clicking when I press the button. Would the next step perhaps be the motor?
