We always (historically) keep a car for 10+ years, just can't justify having one for a shorter time financially. And due to that plan, we try to always get cars that we know will keep our interest and maintain them well. My last car I had for 12 years (Infiniti G35 coupe M6) and before that was a Mustang convertible that I did a lot of work on we kept for 12 also.

So I figure this is my last muscle car as I'm now 63. But who knows how finances, health, life will play out? This one is also an M6, so if the knee craps out or something, maybe that necessitates a change. But my plan going in is to keep this one for a long time as we have always done.

This is the first car I actually plan on keeping for more than a couple years. Honestly, there isn't much that appeals to me anymore in the $50k-$100k range. Right now I would only get rid of it for a new ZL1 OR if I end up having kids in the near future. When/if the latter happens I may look into something like a CTS-V or Jeep SRT as I am not willing to give up having a performance vehicle. I also love the 1LE so much that I actually am getting a daily to help preserve the vehicle. My g8 gt, 14 5.0, and 15 5.0 were rain/snow/shine vehicles and took a lot of abuse. The Camaro started out that way this year but is going to become more of a garage queen in the near future. If I can stand to drive something "normal" on my bad weather commutes that also can be the family car then I will most likely just keep the 1LE for however long it takes me to get into what I really want......something along the lines of a used 911 Turbo S or a first gen Audi R8 V10

Have been hearing/reading that since the F-body was still in production.

That aside, what is the longevity of the display/touch screens they are putting in cars?

Years ago if a switch or knob broke, you may fix or live with it pending what it specifically controlled. Now with the newer displays & the way they control every thing you are locked in to getting it fixed properly. Am not bashing or trying to be negative. But the thought is always there when ever in a newer car, regardless the mfg. Cannot imagine it will be an inexpensive thing to have to deal with.

I bought this as a fun occasional use car for road and track, with no plan on trading it anytime soon or racking up significant mileage. However, I am old enough that in another 10 years if I'm still alive, it might be too much performance for an old codger to utilize, especially with some engine mods.

I love the car and hope it holds up but honestly I have never had a ton of luck with GM cars holding together later in life.

So as long as I can keep it from falling apart or the next gen is great and still a V8

I'll keep mine until it gets paid off in about 5 years. I will then get another car that I think I may like. I like my cars when I have them but as they age things start breaking and I would rather make payments than work on my car all the time. This is what happen to my last car. Pontiac G8. I really liked it but as it got 140000 miles on it I had to keep tools in the car.

I'm probably going to keep it for 3 years till the warranty is done. Seems like the car is having a few problems. Going to get the 2019 refresh

I kept my last toy for 10 years though an itch developed around the sixth year. I never had a car that I got rid of because I didn't like it, I'm just a sucker for new cars. I like the updated technology both mechanically and electronically. Looks play a big role as well. So why I'd like to think I'll keep it a while the reality is it just depends on what's to come...

Gonna keep it quite a while. I had the last car for eleven years (G35 Coupe). It's nice to not have a car payment for five or six years. I'm already retired so not sure how many more cars I'll be getting, if any. I love my 2017 convertible.

I commute 1.5 hours per day, plus the Camaro is our general use car for Costco shopping and road trips and such. In a year I have 25K miles. I have never owned a car that had less than 100K miles, and this is the first car I've ever bought new (usually I pick cars up with a blown motor for cheap and rebuild it), but I'm really hoping to keep it to at least 350K.

Or as Bob Dylan put it:
“We’re going all the way ’til the wheels fall off and burn
’Til the sun peels the paint and the seat covers fade and the water moccasin dies”

25k miles in a year! Damn thats a alot of miles... I only had mines for a month now and it only has 3800 miles. You already ran thru your bumper to bumper like thin air..but i assume your a DIY guy so it doesnt really matter.
