A long time ago, before they were worth anything, I had a 1969 Camaro with the straight 6. It was awful in the snow. I still drove it because I had to, but it was one of the worst cars I've ever driven in snow. I cannot imagine our gen 6 cars being as bad.

My old '97 was fine in the snow (sub-optimal for sure), drove her 150 miles in a big snowstorm almost 10 yrs ago, took us 6 hrs vs the normal 3 or so, but we optimized the weight (3 of us + full bags in the car).

Never slid off the road or anything, routinely would see 4x4s or Subies passing us, then see them in a ditch later on. This was along the country roads/off-interstate. Slow/steady is the way to go.

Yeah, for sure, the over-confident fools who think that AWD or 4WD gives them super powers, LOL. My other 4-wheeler is a Jeep, so well-suited for winter driving, but I drive it very conservatively in the snow unless I am playing in an empty parking lot or something. Which reminds me, I need to toss the tow strap in the back so I can pull someone out if they get stuck.

And to answer the original question posed in this thread, my Camaro is now parked for the winter. We had some snow and there is salt EVERYWHERE now. If it warms up and we get some rain to wash away the salt, I may take her out for a drive, but otherwise, I am hooking up the CTEK charger and calling the season done.

I keep an eye on the forecast. If snow is forecasted to fly within 7 days, the Hulk gets put away.

Last year it was the first weekend in November. This year it was the first weekend of October.

Managed to take the SS out for a short drive yesterday. Although we have had snow and the roads were white with salt, it warmed up and we had a few days of rain that washed away all the salt. So, I had clear clean roads for a little while. The car is now tucked away in the garage again on its CTEK charger, as more snow is predicted. At this point, it may not come out again until April.

I got winter tires so it never gets put up during winter. As far as "real" winters, I haven't really had to drive it in the snow much. Work usually closes down if the roads are not clear. But, I am not afraid to drive it in the snow. Just keep it slow and brake early.

Winter in South Florida is the best driving weather of the year. We are lucky to not have a off season here.

Florida is nice to visit in the winter but you can keep your summers all to yourself lol

My fat arse, Italian/Slovak/Polish cuisine fed mid-west physique is no match for 95 degrees at 1500% humidity in the shade

Yes, I've always said that I like to visit FL but I'm not sure that I could live there. The heat is nice when you're in vacation mode, but horrible for everything else. Actually exactly one month from today I will be sitting under the FL with a margarita in my hand .

Yes its like us going to visit the cold, it takes some time to get use to for sure. The winters are a nice break for us.

You can always put on a sweater or another blanket.

There’s only so many layers I can take off before it becomes illegal.
