Used SS 1LE values

I see that our 1LEs hold value really well. According to KBB my car is still a high $30k car even with 22k miles. Is anyone actually paying these prices though, considering a brand new 2021 will cost only a few grand more?

The pandemic has drastically impacted supply, making used prices go up.

To your second point, I look at used prices and wonder the same thing. I know for a fact I can get a new 1LE for $40K or $41K at the very worst, so buying at these used prices is not something that makes financial sense to me. The difference in price is only a couple thousand, and for that extra money I get a brand new car with full warranty.

Personally, I think these used performance cars will sit until the market readjusts. Exceptions being cars like the C7, last 'Vette with a manual so prices will probably stay strong.

I ended up buying new because of the used prices. Also I've had my wife's XT4 up for sale for about 3 months and I had my truck up for sale for a few weeks. I ended up trading the truck in. In the past I've had zero problems selling our used cars myself and quickly. Seems like used isn't moving that well right now.

I sold my 2017 in July to a forum member from CA and got what I felt was a fair price, NADA Retail. Now NADA retail on my same 2017 is $3k higher. I am not sure why anyone would buy a used one in the high 30's when you can get a new one for $3-$4k more like everyone else said. The performance car market right now is so fluky its really hard to gauge. If someone can sell their used one for those prices, Congrats! I just wouldn't be the one who would be buying it.........

Much needed discussion about the values of used 1LEs. The market is absolutely crazy, but it will start to normalize I believe after 1 Jan.
As others have said, new is only few grand than used with 20k+ miles. I dont believe that these car hold their value at all...I was given trade in values of $24k with 11k miles on the clock before covid.
I happened to like the 17-18 style better otherwise will be happy to buy a '21 at $39k or so.

So hold off on buying used, dont play into the inflated market

Used 1LE’s are definitely being listed for premium prices right now. On one hand, you have supply and demand, and on the other, I feel like people are trying to unburden themselves from debt, given the unpredictable state of the economy.

Individuals selling the car they may have just purchased earlier this year, or sometime last year... Cars listed with high prices in hopes to mitigate loss.

It's really just a sign of a backwards market, at these prices it makes no financial sense to buy used. Considering the small difference in price between new and used, and the higher interest rates typically associated with used car financing, you would have to have a screw loose to pay these used asking prices.

WOW! Good job, that's a lot for an 18 with that sort of mileage.

I was considering selling my '18 for a '21 but there are a couple of issues... you need to trade-in to avoid paying taxes on the total instead of the difference and I have a lot of money and effort into the current car. I have extensive PPF, high-end window tint, ACS rockers and rock guards, and a handful of smaller things. All that makes a ~$4k price difference into more like a $10k price difference.

I bought a CPO 2019 1SS 1LE with ~12k miles on it for $36k a couple weeks ago. I went to look at 4 1LE's in the DFW area one Saturday, all listed between $34-37k and only one of them was actually still on the lot, the 3 others sold that morning. They're definitely moving (or at least were a few weeks ago).

That is good to hear that they are selling, and congrats on your purchase.
