I for one will not be taking the car into the dealer for oil changes. All those guys hot rod the heck out of your car when they take it for there "safety check". I dropped my super duty off at the dealer one time for something and while i was waiting for my ride home i was in the parking lot looking a new trucks while my truck went full tilt burning rubber out of the parking lot. you wanna talk about one pissed off mofo. so in the end i wouldnt take your car anywhere unless you can see it the whole time or stand by the car and BS with the oil change guys.

ok so I hear people mentioning the oil changes. Although the service writer at the dealership where I bought my car insisted Chevrolet stopped the 2 year free service. Any one actually find records of the free 4 oil changes?

Being in the dealership business the last 4 years I will say I have seen it all, crashed cars, no oil put into engines, and scratches. I will definitely not take my car there other than to attempt to get the 10quarts of oil and filter to do at 500 miles. I will be the only one servicing my car. If they can't honor that then I'll just pay out of pocket and go to synthetic oil earlier.

To stay on topic I'll probably do dexos and delco filter at 500 miles then amsoil or Mobil 1 at 1500 with a Mobil 1 filter.

Depends on the dealer. Gibbs gives lifetime oil changes...I use it on my wife's truck, but will use my own choice of oil when I get my Camaro and do it myself.

I will never use Amsoil again. I had a 2006 Suzuki M109R motorcycle I started using Amsoil in. I took a long 3 day road trip where friends and I ran our bikes hard we always did. 2k miles, on the way home 100 degree day we were running fast as usual and my oil frothed and was bubbling then got sucked out of the engine blow by tubes and started self draining. Noticed it at the gas pumps I was down about a quart on a 4 quart motor. Both of my other buddies same bikes were just using other brand bike motor oils.. I think one was using Mobil 1 and the other I'm not sure.. It didn't damage my motor but it made me real uncomfy to continue using it.

FWIW. I don't want to start a debate just an FYI on something I experienced. Yes it was a bike not a car but imo id rather use a different brand.

FYI, if you like Wix, buy online in bulk ~$60 delivered ($5 ea). Saves a lot of driving around etc. This is the new XP:

I will not be taking mine in for the 2 free service visits. There is no need for them to lay a hand on my car. (Dirty the interior, scratches, screwing up the oil)
Changing it myself.

TO the OP:
AC Delco Filter

The dealership is not lying, the 2014 and 2015s Chevy's had the 2 -yr service (4 total visits)- I had a 2014 Camaro and on the Window Sticker it shows the 2 year plan.

Model year 2016-current you only get 2 service visits.

I did not mean to imply the XP is $5.

I use the standard Wix for my once-per-year changes:

http://www.discountfleetsupply.com/wix57060.html

Side benefit is that it also fits my 2007 5.3 Tahoe.

My dealer said I get two oil changes free with the regular oil. I think it's a partial synthetic. Mobil one would be extra. I've just been changing it myself though

YASSS what he said! I went to a dealer clearly explained I had a 1LE and not to put 5-30 as I will be taking it to the track over the wknd..Sure as shit after waiting what seemed half my f'ng day off I luckily looked over the full pages of my oil change work and the Chevrolet garage put in 5-30 just as I said not to and to put 0- weight instead.. so I had to wait for them to re-drain it again and fill it w/correct oil I requested and have been putting in from beginning..I mean jesus Christ! total imcompetence!
