Been running the MSD intake for a couple years now. Mildly modified exhaust, no headers and no adverse effect. Yes there is some ticking with the hood open but nothing noticeable to me with it closed. And I agree it is likely to run a little cooler with whatever air gap is there. Also the the IM just sits more firmly without having to mash the foam- you don't want to over tighten those hold down bolts!

Yes the bolts are the nemesis to the poor aluminum threads. Sounds like the car is still running well.

I would say the foam would insulate significantly more than nothing. I was able to fit the stock foam back in with no trimming.

I am wondering though how much sound insulating the foam does, and also how much sound insulating the piece on the top of the intake manifold does. I didn't notice any sound insulating when I put my stock foam piece back under the intake manifold.

Wow, what a great thread this has turned into.

As for me I am not sure I want to tune my LT1. But if I did I want to leave the stock NPP exhaust alone even with the 2" restriction. It sounds too good to me the way it is.

But say I want to maximize my power on the intake side with the LT2 IM.

I still have my LT2 IM in my attic along with the Corvette cover. I also have a Rotofab connector tube longer than stock.

Would I go with a 95 MM TB and the LT2 IM? Is there a better powerwise CAI that requires a tune besides the RF?

I also need to fix my scoop which needs a little work. It does not fit the LT1 model very well. But it is a bummer to have to remove the bumper cover.

Also I am not interested in porting. To me it is not bang for the buck.

This time around I also will skip the E. Can I get 25 RWHP with this setup? Around 450 to the wheels seems just right for me in the Gen6 Camaro. And 11s in a M6 would easy with tires.

And at this power level my diff is pretty safe. So I do not need to worry about no tow hook with the LT1 model.

While I like the Corvette cover lowering the motor seems a little extreme to just add some bling. Maybe some vendor could create a lower cover.

Will the GMPP CAI bolt right up with an LT2 intake swap?

Right now I am running the LT2 with a 95mm tb and a rotofab on the ‘22. It’s untuned and runs great. Really keeps pulling up top. I didn’t get to the strip with it though. In the spring I will add flexfuel and the scoop. Like you, the exhaust will stay stock on this car and see how fast it will go.

You should at least open the throat to the oring for the 95mm. if you don’t have the other tools a Dremel would work. I still believe it is a worthwhile mod. Trim the foam as well it stays bone stock quiet no trade off.

Good luck! At least the scoop fits an SS, but it is a PIA to install. Let us know how it turns out. Your M6 Times are awesome.

Will the LT2 intake fit under the Camaro strut tower brace?

I currently have a Rotofab, e85, Kooks headers so adding a Ported LT2 would be a nice addition. But I would hate to have to remove my tower brace.

You have to trim some of the fins on top of The LT2 intake to make it fit, and add a thick washer to the strut tower brace bolts to give you a little more room under the brace.
