why do people say the 5th won't be worth much?

Why do people say the 5th gen camaro won't be worth much in a few decades due to too many being made. Out of all 5 gens the 5th is the least produced, beats gen 1 by near 200,000 makes and they sell pretty well.

theres a reason Grand Nationals and Yenko Camaros are worth a good deal of cash.

Because it won't anytime soon. It's not like it's a classic back when it was the turning point for cars. Now everything is electronic and just keeps improving.

These 5th gen Camaros will become mechanical and electric nightmares compared to the
early Camaros. I can fix anything on a '67-69 Camaro. A new one, not much of anything.

you gotta realize that yea, almost 700 thousand first gens were built. but that was 50-60 years ago? there aren't 700 thousand first gens driving around currently. Supply and demand determines cost. more people want a 69 SS than are probably available.

When you're talking about the value of used cars, you are talking two different levels of value:

1.) Not worth much.
2.) Worthless.

I laugh when I hear people talking about how their car "holds value." What's the difference between an "investment" that depreciates at 11% vs 15%? At that point, you're arguing over the cleanest thing in the dumpster. Almost everyone just trades their car in at the dealership when they buy a new one because it is such a pain in the ass selling a used car it isn't worth the extra 3-5% you'll pick up in headache.

When you trade in your car, you're going to get a lousy number. Accept it. If the majority of your cash goes into your vehicles, you're going to die a poor man.

But how do you account for that opinion when looking at the other generations numbers listed above? They were 'mass produced' as well.

I recently saw a red 2002 Camaro 35th edition conv sell
at the Mecum auction for $20,000. And thats near new condition with low mileage.
NADA retail now $20,400. New the car's MSRP was $35,000+

What makes you think there will be that many 5th generations in 50-60 years? I believe the question is being made from the same standpoint of people who plan to keep them that long.

Given the age of increasingly tech-saavy generations, I think that's an outdated opinion.

My camaro (a V6) is worth more to me than it will sell for and I'm ok with that, as long as I drive it the way its meant to be driven, it will "make-up" for the lost monetary value.

I'm going to go out on (not much of) a limb and assume the Op wasn't referring to trade-in value, rather the value in 40 some-odd years when it will be considered a 'classic'.

Example: I had my oil pan gasket on my '10 SS replaced under warranty. It was
a 3 day job at the dealer. My 350 V8 pan on my old '69 Camaro, no problem.
Again, just my opinion. I'm also thinking do it yourself vs retail shop rates I'll need
for much of what will go wrong on a 5th gen down the road.
