Cool New MagneRide Feature for the GT350 possibly on the new SS Camaro?

Saw this over on the Mustang forum. Interesting article about the details of the GT350 twins. One thing that stood out to me and that I would like to see on the SS Camaro is a Drag mode for the MagneRide Shocks.

"The MR shocks are also unique, with the internal piston orifices smaller on the R. The ride modes offered include Tour, Sport, Track, Weather, and Drag. That last one loosens everything up a lot to encourage as much rearward weight shift as possible during a hard launch then gets ready to stiffen things up for the first-second shift, so as not to get squirrely."

Drag mode would be cool. We'll most definitely see a track mode, but as far as a dedicated drag mode, nothing has been announced.

That is interesting. My best friend is looking into the '16 model, he already has a picture of it on his phone. Ingot Silver with black stripes, he's got it pretty bad!

Sounds like the GT500 will have MagneRide as well then. Wonder how much a difference it will make in launches.

I suppose its a safe bet, I just haven't heard anything official that they will have one - but they must come out with an FI version I'm sure.

I think it's crazy that the GT350, the more circuit track mustang focused on handling prowess, has a drag mode. This would be pretty sweet on the Camaro. I would imagine it would definitely help with launch, traction, and improving 0-60 times...

And yes I fully expect an FI 5.0 Coyote or 5.2 Voodoo for the next GT500. It's coming for sure.

Hence my guess the GT500 will have MagneRide. It would make sense if they were developing it for the GT500 and seeing it is the same system gave it to the GT350. Betting we will see a lot of suspension design and weight savings passed on to the GT500 to make up for additional weight of FI.

I just really hope we see this other future vehicles that use the MR suspension, not exclusive to Ford. The Corvette team as updated the new Z06 with a bumpy track mode. Would cool to see them do a drag mode update as well....

Ok so this "cool new feature" was launched with MR on the C6 ZR1.

GM has had this for years and Ford would be, how you say? Copying this feature from GM

Not doubt you but can you show proof somehow? I have never owned nor ridden in a ZR1, and to my knowledge when the ZR1 was launched it only had Tour and Sport mode for MR. Same with the Caddy CTS-V launched the same year...

I think Number 3 is talking about the magnerheological shock technology in general.
Delphi Automotive developed this technology, back before they were spun off of GM.

The first car to utilize MagneRide was the 2002 Cadillac Seville STS.

It's so good that Ferrari bought the tech for some of its cars.

Not sure where Ford gets theirs, but I'm sure it's a copy.
Took Ford 13 years to implement it. Says a lot about their technical prowess.

Further, before MagneRide, GM developed & utilized CVRSS (Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension).
I think CVRSS was used as early as the late '90s.
