In terms of equipment and looks, I personally like that they added it to the line up. I'd like to have one, for sure! Would I prefer to have it over the Gen 5 1LE, no thank you, but that is no discredit to the new car at all.

I am not going to dig out the link, but there was a very interesting, recent thread about an obscure Gen 5 SS Performance Package that did include 1LE suspension components. They didn't make very many of those.

Great comments in this thread.
Don't know if this is the Performance PAckage you read about, but Chevy did some one-off packages with Chevrolet Performance catalog parts for SEMA 2014 and called them: Ultimate Street Camaro SS and Ultimate Track Camaro SS. The Street has 1LE suspension and tires and some ZL1/Z28 parts and the Track version had Z/28 suspension, 1LE tires and the LS3 power upgrade (cam/heads) package, etc. They ran a stock SS and the two special versions around Spring Mt track outside of Vegas. The Track one dropped nearly 10 seconds per lap over the stock SS.

I'm fine with the V6 1LE. A 1LE is a performance handling package, not an engine and performance handling package. I wish they would release a 2.0 1LE version also. The V6 1LE offers the SS handling suspension as its base which itself is the equivalent to the 5thgen 1LE.

Uh not exactly ...V8s come with a 3:91 rear and 6 piston Brembo brakes, the V6 doesen't

Here's all the differences http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/art...-packages.html

I still say Chevy should put lower case 1le emblems on the V6

The only people to blame for the V6 1LE are the 14-15 1LE owners! Those of us that ordered a 2013 1LE knew we were getting something special.....The 14-15 owners jumped on the band wagon after the fact for the black wheels and "fancy "shift knob.....It was YOUR numbers that allowed the bean counters to go ahead and authorize a V6 version....Blame yourself 14-15 owners!!!!!

Not True! I (we) bought it mostly for the cool looking black hood!

When they do the 1LE treatment to the I4, we'll blame the V6 guys.

Maybe I should take my 1LE off the street and have a ZL1 as a daily driver. ;-)
In stock form it might on a hot day, but all Camaro's barely have enough cooling for track work in the heat. In modified form it is a non issue. There are several cures for the IAT2 blues which chops power when too high. The engine oil temp problems are shared across the line up. To track a Z in the heat as well as any other version additional oil cooling is a good idea.

To tackle the inlet temps that the Z can suffer from a few of the ways to battle it are, meth injection, E85 conversion, headers and cam while leaving the pullies alone, additional intercooling capacity, upgraded intercooler brick.

Many have in excess of 700 rwhp and can run all day long without issue if done properly. At that level meth injection is the way to go.

I know one thing... my gen 5 1le with 3 people in it will whip a gen 6 1le with 3 people in it because the 3rd person in a gen 6 would have to hang on to the roof! Back seat is a joke..

V6 is No comparison to the v8 ........personally I would go for the v8 you can beat the power and tourque of the v8 ! Spend the extra money on v8 and you won't regret it ! Aron link posted a 2:58 seconds around Vir in the 5th gen 1le

It seems that the new Camaro beats every comparable car depending on the model. The V6 1LE is faster than the Mustang 5.0 GT. The SS 1LE beats an Audi R8 V-10. And the new Mustang GT-350R is a second slower than the Gen 5 Camaro Z-28.

Some amazing performance numbers out there. And if you figure in the price it is even more incredible. The SS 1LE is 45.7K (as tested). The Audi R8 that it beat by over a second was 202K!
