I've been thinking of going with the axle-back Outlaw. My system is currently stock and I plan to keep it this way for sometime still.

American Racing Headers and Kooks would be my personal top 2 brands to choose from.

I have TSP 2" headers, and love them. Went on without too much issue. The only problem I had was on the passenger side it touched the frame rail. Called TSP and they said to dimple the header so I did just that. No problems since.

For a 2 incher it will be iffy on the fitment regardless of which brand you go with. Variances in room under the hood and the actual header themselves might mean you'll need to make some modifications. But TSP, Kooks, and ARH all make a 2 inch header. I have read fitment issues with all three brands. Like I said, it is due to the large size. There is also a company called Manzo that makes a T-304 stainless steel set of headers that costs $320 on Ebay. Also Stainless Works makes a 2 inch header and I believe the Hooker Black Heart headers are 2 inch.

Lots of good info, i appreciate it. As of now i think im going to go with the TSP because theyre a great company and the price is not too bad compared to others.

What are your reasons behind wanting 2in? Until you start putting out some serious power (like 800-900 hp), 1 7/8in headers actually make more power and tq under 5k rpms than 2in.

i was just going to ask this myself. for my blown LS1, i'm running 1 7/8, and would've went with 1 3/4 had i known i wouldn't get to build the 402 for it.

Quit spreading false information. There's a dyno comparison of all 3 header sizes and 2" made the most power period. FFS..........how many times are you guys going to keep missrepresenting the facts when they've already been posted to be shown otherwise. For a budget header, TSP will be worth the price. For the other 2 big brands, unless you have a big bank roll, I can't justify spending that much on a single part when there are similarly built products that are a third of the price. I'd much rather spend the extra money on suspension parts, tune, CAI, cam kit, clutch/converter upgrades etc. TSP is a decent product for sure, especially for the money.

Header Dyno

Thats not true. 2in make no less power under 5k than 1 7/8. Yes in theory your statement should be correct but there are dyno graphs to show that in our cars that is not ture.

These engines after mods are around the same or close to the same output as cars that have 500 hp stock. With boltons these cars are in the 440 hp range at the rear wheels. And you have to figure that these are big ole 6.2 liter pushrod V8 engines. They really do benefit from more exhaust flow. Even if the 1-7/8th inch headers were better down low vs 2 inch headers, the 2 inchers would be much better at the top end and WOT which is where you are most of the time when racing anyway. The little you could potentially lose would be insignificant. I'm not saying you need 2 inch headers at all. I myself went with 1-7/8ths because I didn't want to deal with potential fitment issues. But those 2 inch headers are a bit better and would be much more of an advantage if you introduced forced induction. Same with a 3 inch exhaust over a 2.5 inch exhaust.

Yup bigger is better but you have to really need it to really justify it...NAH.... frankly I run 1 7/8 because it was the cheaper quality made header with HFC from stainless power most of us found more affordable and not just some ebay what ever.... would I pick up 1-2 hp from a 2" ? and where in the power band, and why? should I ditch my 2 1/2 inch and NPP for 3"....that's all in the budget of who...?
