OP - you might want to try this.

I had some major water spots from the previous owner on my trunk lid. I tried all types of products,

and I was about to do a color sand with 2000grit, when I thought I'd try the Flitz.

Glad I did, because it removed the water spots, but I still needed to buff out some fine scratches...see pics.

This is much easier than having to color sand the trunk lid.

Here's what I used as a final step...Collinite #845 and SiO2 with Carnauba Spray.

OP - try a lighter polish and a pad with medium coarseness on your dual action polisher. Meguiar's #83 and Klasse AIO are great products.

Even something like "Meguiar's Ultimate Polish" which you should be able to pick up at any Wal Mart, should get those watermarks out without removing too much material.

None of those products will remove hard water marks- I'm guessing either they were superficial (in which case they would come off with QD or even water) or the fillers in one of your products temporarily covered them.

From the look of it, some Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover would do wonders for that panel.

Remember once they are removed to put n some good protection to keep it from happening again.

This exactly. I had bad water spots on my old black Challenger and it took a 2 stage correction polishing with Adams Correcting Polish and Finishing Polish to remove them.

You are correct, the pics were of the final step products used.

Flitz is what removed the water spots...hence I mentioned I still needed to buff out the light scratches.

What I failed to mention is what I used to buff out the fine scratches, but since this was "How to remove water spots" I mentioned Flitz.

Have you tried Flitz to remove water spots?
The removal is NOT superficial.

Maybe I should list the steps I took to remove the water spots with ALL the products I used, I was afraid what I posted here with the pics was incomplete/confusing...and it was.

My apology.

Here is a guy from TRC testing 5 methods of water spot remover.

Wheel acid was the best for removing water spots.
