Now for the ZL1 1LE vs. GT500 "track pack": If/WHEN we see this comparison it will almost certainly be with the A10 instead of M6 so the DCT will be less of an advantage for the stang. Yes it will have the HP advantage over the Z but it will not have the GRIP advantage like the previous scenario, I would say that goes in favor of the Z this time, because despite popular belief I can say will 100% confidence that the SC3R is a better tire than the Cup2 and there's more of it 305/325 vs 305/315! And we all know the Alpha chassis is better than the stang chassis, the big question is weight, if it's as chunky as some people are thinking that 100HP won't be that much of an advantage as we think...

So I think in a GT500 vs ZL1 1LE A10 it will be VERY CLOSE! Could come down to the track, say Road America>GT500, Laguna Seca>ZLE, you get my point.

Ford has already gone on record early in the release and said that this generation of GT500 will weigh more than the previous. With the previous coming in at 3920lbs, you can take a stab at where this vehicle will land. There's no way in hell it'll reach tug boat status like the Dodge twins but, I'm sure it'll be around 4-4100.

Ford waited until the 755 LT5 to come out and the upped it. I am sure the it would have been around 740hp and then in the next year it would have gone to 760. But it could not wait

760 hp is impressive but not earth shattering. It should be interesting to see how the GT500 compares to the ZL1.

Please give example of earth shattering at MSRP of 75k.

Maybe I missed said vehicles.

Mine in stock form weighed in at 3860lbs with a full tank of gas.

If we look at that recipe. They took the regular GT and added tons of chasis reinforcement, additional suspension bits and a supercharger.

I suspect we're looking at 200lbs over Mustang GT. Most of that sitting on the nose.

I like America. I don't care if its Ford, Dodge or Chevy.
I think the GT500 looks pretty good, I just wish they'd given it the fender vents from the GT350.

My feeling is that 650hp is more than enough. Beyond that I only want handling and I don't believe the GT500 will handle better than my ZLE. Even if it manages better lap times it will be through brute force. Not what I'm looking for.

If I could have three cars in my garage:
#1 ZL1 1LE A10 (Daily Driver)
#2 Hellcat Redeye A8 (Road Trips)
#3 C7 Grand Sport M7 w/ Z07 (Track Days)

GT500 isn't on the list.

This I still give edge to ZLE bc it's that damn good but certain tracks might give the GT500 the win

When the Hellcat came out with 707 hp, I think that qualified. The Redeye is another example.

Even the last GT500 coming out at 662 was surprising, at least to me.

Hmm... Why be so certain about some arbitrary number when the market dictates the sales price for you? Have you ever bought a car below MSRP? Same thing.

It'll be marked up to $125k for at least a year, then slowly come down like the 350R did.

I'm curious to hear what they've done to keep temperatures in check. My buddy's two GT350's both had big issues with overheating after only a few minutes on track.
