The Corvette has always been the better car when it comes right down to it.
Maybe you are right but from my experience with the auto world 9/10 Corvette owners are 60+yro. The youth battle has always been Mustang vs Camaro, and the Challenger bringing up the middle age crowd.

I'm 38, and if I can finagle my way into a C8 I'm gonna do it.

I'm seeing more and more C5's and C6's being driven by the 'younger' crowd around here, prices are coming down to where they can easily afford it. Hell, the first C7 ZR1 I saw on the street had a kid driving it.. or at least he looked a hell of a lot younger than me.

That will be the same average age of GT500 owners. Soooo.....what exactly is your point?

He is JUST deflecting because no matter how he slices it, there are cars faster than the upcoming GT500 in its price range and cheaper. The demographic for the cars being discussed has NOTHING to do with their performance.

I think if he really thought the GT500 was THAT great, he would buy one and we all know he won't.

I like talking vs., but in reality, all these cars are sweet, starting from the SS/GT/Hellcat/GT350/ZL1/GT500/C7/C8/etc. and that’s just the American brands. Germany and Japan are also in on the performance game albeit less affordable per hp.
^^^ This!!! Can’t we just let it rest here?

I have to agree we are in the golden era of muscle and performance cars. The cars available to us today would destroy the baddest cars available in the late 60's and early 70's.

Thankfully, the big 3 are still competing with each other, pushing each one to make a better car for us to enjoy based on our own preference.

All expensive performance cars carry a higher age of ownership...it's a matter of capital money available to the individual. I was 32 when I bought my Corvette, just saying.

p.s. No 7th Gen Camaro is no argument at all, there is no 7th Gen S550 replacement either...

Shelby Mustangs have been Ford’s “answer” to Corvette since the ‘60s. Books have been written about that rivalry. And this is one rivalry where Ford fanboys can’t scream “but the sales”....

All great points, except I think we can make better arguments than "Today's Pony Cars are faster than the best available 50 years ago."

Since the performance data has not been released for any variant of the 500, how exactly do you arrive at your above statement which you are posting as fact?

Well the ZL1 and C8 and Hellcat are all FASTER than the 500 already. The 500 is the one limited at 180. So yes, data is out and yes the 500 is already slower. It is also slower 0-60 than the base C8. That data is also out.

Enjoy today because the party will soon be over.

Agreed, I could have elaborated to braking, handling, and driving dynamics as well. I'm obviously a big fan of old school muscle, I wouldn't own my GS if I wasn't, but I would be lying if I didn't admit to being anxious to perform an LS swap with a 6 speed manual on it

Just for the record the average age of a Corvette owner is 61 and 911 owners average 52. By the logic used here 911 owners would be older given the higher cost of the Porsches but the inverse is true.

I know members here like to make up their own facts , but this info literally is just a click away.

Don’t mention Ferrari’s, McLarens and Lambos in the same breath as corvettes, you just sound silly

Oh man, now you're talking!!! As amazing as the cars we are discussing are, for the money of the hi-po versions, I would much rather have a resto mod 60's muscle car. In this order: Barracuda, Fastback Mustang, Camaro SS/RS. That would be a dream, and all manual....of course!!
