Any new info on another 6th Gen variant?

I keep reading the same thread about it cant be called a Z28 with a Supercharged motor or it cant be...ect. Not really interested in a stripped out track car, but more interested in a car with the LT5. Seems like all the rumors are dead and with nothing testing on the streets is the 6th Gen all tapped out? I want an A10 so I am planning on ordering a 19Z and will mod it but would wait if there is something in the works.

With the Ford GT500 hitting soon, I would put money on the release of an LT5 based Camaro. It’s more than likely going to happen.

It’s too early to tell. GM could easily have powertrain mules testing under our noses (which I believe to be the case), and that could mean that an LT5-powered Camaro will be available for the 2020 model year(possibly not until the fourth quarter of 2019, however). On the other hand, GM could have no plans to produce an LT5 Camaro or any Z/28 during this generation.

Manufacturers don’t spend millions designing, developing, testing, and producing a motor so it can be sold in just one model car (Excluding the super and Hyper cars). They are going to want to recoup their investment. The LT5 will trickle down into something else. When and what is a matter of debate, but i’d Think looking at the history of the LT4 is a pretty good bet.

Dodge did the same thing with tbe Demon motor. They gave it exclusivity for one year then detuned it slightly to be put in the RedEye, which will be produced for a few years.

Ford 5.8 Trinity, only offered in the 13/14 GT500 Ford 5.2 VooDoo only offered in 15-18 GT350.

GM does it as well lol. LS9 was only offered in the C6 ZR1. I wouldn't be shocked to see the LT5 stay a Corvette exclusive to send the C7 out in style if the C8 does in fact go Mid Engine.

I think the Gen6 is done. No NA engine to put in a Z28. With that said- I bet a gen7 Z28 will have a new NA DOHC engine making around 650-700HP

The days of big power NA engines is done. They tried to go 600+ NA in the Z06 and couldn't pass emissions with it.

I’ve heard they couldn’t get the power they wanted with AFM, which they needed. All Corvettes have AFM, so they decided to go supercharged instead.

I thought it was that it wouldn't pass cold start emissions but either way they tried to go big power NA and it didn't work for whatever reason

I believe I read M6(7) LT4s and LT5 for Camaro/Corvette don't have AFM. FWIW...

Think whatever they do vette motor wise it will trickle down to a Caddy, ala LS9/LSA. They also put an LS6 in the first gen CTSV. Follow the money..

When Al left the Camaro program, they very overtly discussed that they were done with the 6th generation Camaro development. I, for one, hope they don’t drop the LT5 in a Camaro. There’s no real reason to do it. If you simply want the bragging rights to say that you have the most horsepower, buy a Dodge. The LT4 is a very, very capable engine and the ZL1 1LE is plenty sufficient for our current lineup. We have too many models and sub-models as is with this generation. As far as on a track is concerned, the only Dodge we have to contend with on a high echelon is the Viper. From Ford, the GT PP2, GT350/R and GT500–of which has already been confirmed by Ford to weight more than its predecessor. So more power doesn’t entirely equate to the car being faster around a track.

If it’s straight line performance you’re after in a Z/28, I think that GM has their sites set elsewhere.

^^^ True.. but validation for the last variant could have been completed before he left. How about a LT5 turned up to 775 hp with the Tremec DCT? That would be cool (and $$$).

The straight line stuff should be handled by the ZL1, but I don't care what the car is called, as long as it has the goods. Put the LT5 in a ZL1, Z28, or simply put a larger supercharger with a more aggressive tune on the LT4 that will whip these GT500s and Redeyes. Or make it even more simple and give us the drag package we were teased with over a year ago. A low 10, high 9 ZL1 will beat both those cars and even compete with the Demon. I'd actually prefer to keep my current Z and just add GM's drag goodies, that were said to retain the remaining warranty on our cars.
