You shouldn't be cording the insides from track duty after 3 days. If you're an advanced driver, you should be wearing the outsides much faster and cording first on the outside, the car is leaning hard on the outside half of tires in the turns and the front of this car is very heavy so fronts wear ~2x faster. Something may be off with toe, toe out leads to inside edge wear.

Also, I recommend you have front tires dismounted and flipped after 2 days if possible, I know the tread is asymmetrical but the tires will lost longer if you do this.

Also, yes there is camber adjustment, but it requires a bolt to nudge the camber into place, then you can lock it down.

I too went through a few sets of fronts due to cording on the inside edge. My camber is set at 2.9. The toe was set correctly initially, but I suspect the toe gets knocked out rather easily..(turn 3 at RA ) I need to remind myself to get it checked after each event. I had my right front cord on the inside at Charlotte this weekend. And had to switch to my Michelins for the last 2 sessions..

My 1st set wore perfectly using the regular -2.7 track camber setting

Not going to change a thing on the next set except maybe the the track align mainly done for the rear.

Swapping to PROXES R888R seemed to help the wear problem most people experienced with out sacrificing to much grip.

This is being discussed in another thread, but I am curious if people’s alignments are holding under normal street and track use. Mine has slipped out of alignment after a track day and some street driving.
I’ve only had it aligned once (to the recommended track settings) and didn’t replace the torque to yield bolts.
I’ll have run make sure that my shop follows the torque specs when they do it again.

Oh and the alignment settings got me very good tire temps when I checked them after getting off the track. I’m have to see how the tires ultimately wear but my initial impressions are that I’m very close to optimal for my driving.

Some of these issues with alignment moving after track use may result from people reusing the torque-to-yield fasteners that are supposed to be replaced after 1 use.

After multiple uses they will lose their ability to hold torque.

I run the 305/30-19 3R on my Gen5 1LE. I do my own alignments and have used -3.5 to my current -2.2. Car is mostly street driven and as of today, I have had eleven 20 minute sessions on my fronts this year over 4 days. I noticed my inner shoulders were wearing at a higher rate than the outers and started reducing the neg camber. Prior to my last event, which was yesterday, I was running zero toe.

For yesterday’s event, I moved the toe in, to .125” which is well within GM’s specs on a Gen5. I like the feel of more toe in anyway, and they turn in good enough without needing toe out. But I knew cording the fronts was a matter of time and I fortunately had a spare wheel/3R with me. The RF was done after yesterday’s session 1 and the LF was done after the final session 3. I believe much of an outer shoulder wear happens at the start of the session if the tires are are run very hard before the pressures come up. There’s not enough pressure to minimize the shoulder from rolling over. I have run mine at 30psi before I go on track. My goal was to extend the life at the expense of outright grip. Yeah the outer shoulders have been saved, but the inners went to hell first. So to hell with trying to save the outer shoulders, haha. Drivers who run them at the 28psi and run hard right away in a session probably wear the outers out well before the inners.

I think the role of caster could play a part of this. I have run about 9* of caster on my car at one time. It helped the tire wear, but it added bumpsteer that was unbearable. There are no bumpsteer kits for the electric power steering ‘14-15 1LEs. I’m currently at 7*. If you have ever seen photos of our cars while heavily loaded in a turn , the inner, less loaded tire still has a lot of negative camber. This is loading that inner shoulder. Optimum caster will pull that inner, unloaded tire towards less negative camber, making it’s contact patch more parallel to the surface. And more caster adds more negative camber on the loaded, outer tire, which can reduce the static camber requirement.

I had a track alignment done to my car prior to setting off for CF IX. I'm on the return leg of my trip now and still don't see any adverse wear on my Michelin PS4S's. I measured the tread depth before I left. I'll do it again when I get home. I'm about 5000 miles in so far +/-. Still got about 1500 or so to go.

My 2019 is cording the inside front tires. 4 track days first time, second time about 4 days and corded inside fronts. Toe is set at .07 left and .06 right. Corded inside left . And suggestions on how to get some more life out of tires on this beast of a car? On a track day weekend driving 5-6 1/2 hour sessions per day.

It would be helpful if you can share your camber settings as well. Did you take any tire temps? I’ve got fairly even wear with GMs track settings.

I'm in the same boat on my 2019 with ~.06 toe on both fronts and -2.7 camber. I got about 3 track days and 1500 street miles out of a set of tires before the inside edges of the fronts began to show cords. I had the same results with both the SC3R and a set of NT01s in OEM ZL1 1LE sizes.

That is too much toe. Toe should be as close to zero as possible

I tried buying a ZL1 at Tom Henry. They offered me $56 for my Porsche. LOL! Ended up getting $60 and $3 off a $69 sticker at Greenwood in Youngstown.

Traded my Z06 for my 1le. It's is aligned for track with gm track specs. I have corded 2 sets of front tires after just 3 trackdays on each set . going to have the alignment rechecked. first set were the GY second set were perilli slicks. I do track it monthly haven't had the car to long. it seems to be a tire eater. does anyone get more than 4 track days on there tires? My friend has the same car and his tire use is about the same. I'm not a novice driver either so usually hitting it pretty hard. Thanks for any suggestions.
