SS A10 compared to S1LE

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mot...st-review/amp/

In acceleration testing, the SS automatic performed well. The Camaro posted a 4.1-second 0-60 mph time, matching the result of a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE with a six-speed manual. It was also slightly quicker in the quarter mile at 12.4 seconds at 115.8 mph versus 12.5 seconds at 115.2 mph for the 2018 manual.

Welcome to 2019?

I'm not sure anyone here bought their 1LE to run in a straight line.

A10 is actually slower than the a8?

Wow gm really knows how to screw up great transmissions. It’s the dame trans ford uses, and everything ford with the a10 saw huge acceleration gains.

The 10 speed trucks are testing a little slower than the 8 speed trucks as well

Sounds like you need you a Mustang.

There's more to it then just ford vehicles gaining more from the a10 than gm vehicles.

If comparing the advantage vs a manual, m6 mustangs are clearly slower than m6 camaros, the mustang power band doesn't do as well with m6 gearing, since it doesn't have as much down low, it benefits more than the chevy from the a10 gearing that keeps it at the higher rpms.

The a6 that the a10 replaced on the mustang was also a lot slower than the a8 in stock calibration. From a performance stand point a8 was/is a good fast transmission that can hold a lot of power already (besides reliability, the shudder issues). Not only that but if you break down the gearing itself gear by gear, the a10 and a8 are very similar for the first 4 gears, 5th is where the true difference starts. So it basically has one more usable gear before the 1:1 and an extra overdrive. As well as the coyote benefiting more from the from the extra gearing keeping it in the power band better on the a10 vs the a6 just like it does compared to m6 mustangs.

On top of that the mustang also gained power along with the a10 upgrade. The pp mustangs that saw the biggest gains also come with a more aggressive rear end ratio option. The camaro just got a tyranny swap, no power bump or final gear option.

So while I do think it's noteworthy that the a10 has gained nothing over the a8 according to most reviews, it's obviously not an apples to apples comparison of how or why each vehicle benefited or didn't from the a10. The a8 gm replaced was a better faster and harder to improve on tranny than the a6 ford replaced in stock form, as well as the other factors discussed the benefited the mustang more specifically.

I think one obvious criticism that is warranted is gm moving down from a 90 rated 8L90 to an 80 rated 10L80.

While this is mostly true, plenty of people use their 1le's for straight line stuff as well so it's nice to see the car performs and isn't far off the a10 in that department.

I suppose. It just seems like there's an unusual amount of posts/comments unrelated to 1LEs in here lately. Or 1LE owners come in here to sh*t poast.

Had been curious now for a while how the SS A10 was going to perform. No stake in the game though. Happy rowing for now.
