Yes. I went from an SS 1LE to a ZL1. Even on the street, in aggressive cornering, you can feel a "slight" difference in the front end because of the extra weight of the ZL1. But, what a car!

zl1 or ss

do you what your gut tells you...a new 2921 ss is yours and you will go mighty fast...

if you buy a used zl1 who knows what the previous owner did or did not do to it....

I have a Fox body Mustang with bolt ons.

I’d like a fun weekend Camaro with bolt ons (Rotofab, Kooks headers, dyno tune) nothing crazy.... but I do plan on running it in the quarter mile.

No drag radials, car will be on street tires 100% of the time.

Vettes are out of the question cause I really want the A10.

I would choose the new car that hasn't been beat on.

Plus, unless you are going to race frequently, the naturally aspirated engine already has more power than you can unleash on the road, and it's damn quick on the drag strip, too.

You can't give me a car with a A8 auto. Really a shame as there are so many nice used C7's and no way i would buy one out of warranty and be left on the hook for something GM never really did fix if you ask me. Shame they never put the A10 in my 2019 C7 as i bet i would still be driving it today.

Let’s agree to disagree.

More than happy with my SS 1LE. Pretty much the only places I wished I have more power are some Alberta highways(far from me now) and a track(my skill is not nearly good enough to utilize the power), and so SS is pretty much the sweet spot for power.

But to each of their own, everyone has a different use case and not to mention, budget. Both are good choices and if I am offered a ZL1, I wouldn't turn it down.

Can't speak for C8 but I am pretty sure even ZL1 is cheaper, and while it's not OP's concern, Camaro's can still be had with a stick shift.

Sent from toaster or something
Save the manuals! There is more power out there now without a tune. Just like the 5th gens.

The SS 1LE is a super capable car that handles like its on rails. Its a fun daily driver that will make any owner proud and happy. I owned a 2018 SS 1LE for 2 years and it performed flawlessly on street and track (100% stock due to warranty). I only sold it because I found a car I always wanted, in the color I wanted, with all the features I wanted, otherwise, I would still own the SS 1LE.

I sold it to buy a ZL1 1LE. It really is a different animal. The SS 1LE was very easy to handle and could be taken much closer to its limits without any drama. The ZLE, well, you better be alert and on point with every driver input or you are in for a very bad day. Thrilling and terrifying all at the same time is how I would describe it. I've not driven the 'regular' ZL1 enough to comment on how it differs from the SS 1LE so I'll leave that comparison to others.

I would look hard at the SS 1LE as it might just prove to be the car most suitable for what you plan to use it for. Hard to argue against owing one.

Honestly I feel like the 6th gen SS is underpowered stock...once you put a decent set of tires on the Alpha platform it can really handle a bit more then 455hp imo. I don't mean that it's slow, but the suspension is so good that the car just begs for more power.

So I would get the 2018 A10 ZL1.

Can the 2021 Camaro have the auto transmission TCM tuned ?
