Garnet vs Red Rock

Does anyone know if the 2016 Garnet Red is the same as the 2015 Red Rock metallic? If not do we know the differences? Thanks guys and gals.

No it is not. It is the same as the 2015 Cadillac Red Obsession.

Garnet red is like Crystal red from the fifth gens and is a tri coat/tintcoat paint. Red Rock is a metallic orange like Sunset Orange and is a traditional base/clear paint.

Whats the difference between a tintcoat paint and a base/clear? Is there no clearcoat on a tintcoat?

I think (based on the touch up bottles for those tint coat colors) that the clearcoat is tinted slightly? In the touchup bottles, it has a very slight red hue to it, with some metallic properties to add the "tintcoat" aspect to the paint. They used to sell tintcoat touchups with two separate bottles. One was the base coat, the other the tint coat. The new bottles are base coat and clear coat all within one bottle, but the tintcoat ones appear to be tint/clear. Or its the clear that is tinted.

In certain light, the RRM would look orange. I love the GRT so much better.

Tint coat is 3 diff colors, a base red, then another base that is more transparent but still another red, then a clear coat.the chevy garnet is also a caddy color under another name.

Yeah, Im pretty sure you are right about the clear being tinted red. I had to polish out my first scratch today - used some polish my body shop gave me. The scratch came out completely (wasnt real deep but was visible) but the white tshirt I used had red tint on it where I rubbed the polish on.

The topcoat is the clearcoat , it is not a tinted clear. I have sprayed garnet tintcoat. It is three different rattle cans, The last one is generic clearcoat
