RK Sport Rear Spoiler
Hi Camaro5,
I've searched quite a few threads to try and find the answer to my question, I seen a lot of pictures but I can't find a 100% answer to my question. I just purchased an RK Sport rear deck lid spoiler with carbon fiber inlay and I have 1 question about the spoiler, I was wondering if the spoiler covers the entire area where the factory spoiler sits on the trunk lid. The reason I'm asking is because the paint underneath my factory spoiler is chipped in several areas, I don't want any of the chips to show when I install the new spoiler and I don't want to get my rear deck lid repainted. I seen quite a few pictures with the spoiler mounted on several different color vehicles and to me it seems like it will cover the entire area or it'll be pretty darn close but I was hoping someone who had one or has already installed one themselves can chime in ad help me out. Thanks, Eric.

No. It doesn't. I just installed mine and I do have spots where the front edge rubbed the paint and the new one does not cover it. Can take pics later to show.. I'm in the process of touching it up before doing a good polish and hoping for the best..

If you could snap those pictures that would be perfect, I'm curious to see exactly how much of the deck lid it does not cover.

Sorry, this is a bad picture but I hope you get the idea. Got caught I the rain yesterday so it's dirty, but I traced a line with my finger over the area that has damaged paint. I'm currently applying touch up paint and then will polish and see how it looks.

Thank you for the pictures they were very useful.
It seems like the center section of the spoiler sits pretty close to where to stock spoiler sits on the trunk but the sides of the spoiler is a where it doesn't really line up to hide the damage underneath. I think I'll be able to get away with removing my old spoiler an buffing the scuffs underneath. I'm pretty sure most of the paint chips are/were towards the rear of the trunk lid and not the front, but its been 2 yrs since I had a spoiler off.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to apply two way tape to the underside of the spoiler to keep it solid and still on the trunk lid, do you think this is necessary?
It seems like the sides of the spoiler sit awfully close to the top of the quarter panels...if the two way tape adds some clearance I will definitely be using some.

It doesn't sit that close, I've not even been able to make it flex down enough to touch. Double sided tape would be a good idea, I did the same thing. Also, FYI the spoiler only uses 4 mounting holes. There will be three holes (two mounting holes and one alignment hole) that you will have to cover up. The spoiler 'covers' them but I still taped over both sides so it wouldn't leak in the carwash etc.

Thanks, thats good to know (about the empty mounting holes). How was the finish of the spoiler prior to paint?
I'm glad the spoiler doesn't flex aswell, it might of been the angle of the picture that had me worried about it hitting the quarters, I don't need anymore paint chips haha!
