LT1 vs 1SS
I tracked down a LT1 at a dealership today and it was sitting next to a 1SS both with next to zero options and there's about a $3,000 price difference so I asked the salesman what the difference was because they both looked pretty similar. What I found out was the LT1 only has front Brembo brakes vs. Brembos on all 4 corners, differential cooler on the 1SS, extra auxiliary cooling on the 1SS, a nicer radio on the 1SS, and 245 rear tire width and all seasons on the LT1. I didn't get a chance to drive them as they park the Camaros close to the building and get boxed in by customers, but they seemed like nice vehicles. I have to say the 2020 front end, IMO, is a big improvement over the 2019 SS cars.
What I basically took away from comparing the two is that if you want to race or push the car hard, the 1SS is absolutely the way to go with the extra cooling and performance pieces. If you want a daily driver that has the potential for some extra fun spirited driving then the LT1 seems the way to go.

Get the 1SS, that is beyond questioning...
$3,000 is not a big price difference for a much better car and better resale value. |

The LT-1 is a lower cost alternative to the 1/2SS for people looking to get a basic V8 option Camaro! For folks that plan to mod the heck out of a Camaro, the LT-1 would be the way to go IMO! The Camaro team was listening to customers that wanted a bare bones V8 Camaro and now you can buy one. It wasn’t designed to take the place of a 1SS or 2SS.

The 1SS is better for the track. The LT1 is better for drag. Re-sale will be a similar ratio to MSRP.

What comes to mind for me is a basic 1969 Camaro with steel wheels/dog dish hubcaps, vinyl interior and a 396 4 speed to relate to the new LT-1 Camaro now!

You mean the LT1 will be a nice street car.. it don’t belong on a track or strip in stock form

The SS Grill just looks better than the LT1 grill.

Get the LT1, for everyday street use and a for drag racing you cannot beat it. the simpler the car the better.

Looking at the two side by side (I wish I snapped a picture) the LT1 would be an awesome sleeper! It was the obviously lower trim front end, but this one that I looked at didn't even have a spoiler. Debadge the fender "LT1" and other than the SS hood nobody would know the difference until you fired it up. Leave a quiet exhaust and mod the hell out of it and it would be a fun car to sneak up on people with. However, if I was to road race the car I would definitely get the SS, but to sneak up on people and if I was looking for a drag car, the LT1 I think would have to be my choice.

I think the LT1 is going to be a few hundred pounds lighter then the 1SS. if I had my choice I would buy the LT1 and strip it down even further and drag race it.
