Good read.

I have been planning out my next mods and thought I was set on doing a BTR stage 1 or 2 Cam next so I could take more advantage of more Ethanol content, and then do an X-port. But now I am thinking of switching that around and doing the X-port first, and then the cam.... I had previously thought I wouldn't be able to run much Ethanol content at all, but this certainly shows it still capable of a good amount of E if doing the X-port first.

The X-port is cheaper (if not doing self install) and definitely much easier. I'm thinking the X-port would probably gain a little more HP too.

I was initially concerned that doing something like this would be too much power for the track, but based on your comments, the X-porting doesn't hit as hard down low and instead it pulls all the way to redline. This seems ideal for the road course.

My plan was to do a similar build as yours; stock pulley, roto-fab, headers and E85 and then do the ported supercharger. I thought I wouldn't need to do the X-porting based on this, but might be right choice if I plan on tracking the car.
I know this is an old thread, but I have the X-Port on my car that is otherwise stock (Corsa intake and NPP exhaust, no tune) and it is incredible on (road course) track. It doesn't have the low RPM "hit" that loses the rear and it pulls so hard on the top end. The sound is probably the best part about it though. It is probably the best road course mod you can do!

That's because it transforms the stock unit into a completely different animal. It goes from being peak efficiency @10-11psi to 14-15psi with very little heat increase.

Correct. They probably hardly ever do a standard port anymore

Where have you read about problems due to the epoxy used? I'm aware of one source but that source is also a competitor to Kong and really hates Kong.

The use of epoxy wouldn’t surprise me at all, and I don’t mean that negatively at all. I know radical port jobs on the LSA required porting through the casting and then welding up the holes that resulted. To get the kind of big airflow improvements the X-port gets out of a tiny 1740 blower…you’re gonna need to break some eggs to make that omelette.

Jokers full tilt doesn't use epoxy. I am not saying epoxy is a issue. A lot of X ports out there seem to be doing fine.

I tend to agree. Both have outstanding ported blowers, they just go about it a little differently.

No issues whatsoever with my X ported little guy and it absolutely screams. As mentioned above the car is a completely different animal with it (and I’m on stock pulleys).

Have you gotten to tune any cars with Joker port jobs? I know they have a good reputation too, but curious how big of a difference there is in either direction. Seems to be less reviews of Joker ports.

No unfortunately not. Every car I have done has been a Kong port. I know Justin Keith and Pray Performance use Jokers. Any kind of decent port program really helps the stock blower regardless. If I bought a ZL1, ported blower and flex sensor would be the first 2 mods.
