ride quality comparison Z28 vs ZL1 1LE
While I am sure someone most have posted about this before, I cant find a thread so I wanted to ask former Z28 owners who now have a Z1LE for their feedback. if you have owned both, what is your opinion on the ride quality/comfort/road noise between the 2 cars?

I own both and thats a good question. The ZLE does ride harsher, but is more comfortable in the long haul. The Z/28 is stripped with no real sound deadening and a simple radio, where as the ZLE has a lot of creature comforts on the inside. I feel like the cabin of the ZLE is quieter and just the actual ride is harsher on that car.

I put 45k on my Z/28 and so far 22k on my ZL1 1LE. The ride quality is about the same. Things seem calmer in the ZL1 1LE due to the NPP.

I've only ever driven a Z/28 and not a ZL1 1LE, so my opinion is worthless, but I think a lot of it depends on what tires you have on the vehicle. The Z/28 I drove rode reasonably well and wasn't harsh at all, but it wasn't on the stock tires either. I would say buy the ZL1 1LE, as it sounds like a much improved car over the Z/28, and don't worry about the rough ride. Worst case, you might need to go with a more forgiving tire.

Points already made are right on. Those who have been with both the Z/28 and ZLE get to feel the progress made on the Camaro first hand.
There is an unique feeling getting into the ZLE, refined and calm, and minimal noise knowing the capabilities. Amazing car. The Z/28 is characteristically different. Throttle input, clutch feel, shift throws and overall rawness for all apparent reasons... and is an absolute awesome car to drive! Suspension feel (assuming OEM tires) is close, but the perceived harshness is minimized when you are in the ZLE. |

Thx for posting, I was about to post/ask the same. I"ve got a bone stock 2015 Z/28 and was contemplating moving to the ZLE as well. There are 2 used ones sitting on the used car lot in Richardson at Reliable Chevrolet. Both 2018s. One with 9K on it, the other with 780 miles on it. Thx to everyone that's posted here and the feedback. I really need to go drive the ZLE.. I love the Z, but have a feeling the interior and the loud pedal may be REALLY hard to resist!! The Exterior speaks for itself!! |
