2019 Silverado....America's truck
Just watched the Silverado commercial, "the official truck of hard work, the official truck of getting to work". Also shows the American soldier coming home. Pretty much all these 2019 Silverado 1/2 ton crew cabs are built in Mexico, the few that are US are still the 46% Mexico parts content, while the US content is only 42%. Same as the Mexico produced one.
The other commercial that makes me chuckle is the one where they dump the rocks in the bed of the new red 2019. It's filmed in a defunct assembly plant here in the US, while it's a truck that's built in Mexico. I am glad to see prosperity shared with Mexico. They need their share. But when we bulldoze Janesville WI's 1923 assembly plant and shutter Youngstown Ohio, I just don't get it. How many Border Patrol pickups are running the border that were built in Mexico? The sad part is, NO ONE who buys a Silverado cares. Otherwise, they'd buy a Toyota built in San Antonio. Anyone else feel this way? What got me thinking is my son's 2016 Mexico built Silverado was stolen while on a trip to Ft Worth TX. The police couldn't get us a report in 3 weeks. It's my understanding that a car is stolen in this area EVERY 54 minutes. They're too busy. And, we probably will never see it because it was across the border within 12 hours......guess it wanted to go home. My son works his ass off, only to have to spend it on a truck built in another country.... Now I understand why Chevy did away with "baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet" slogan!!!! |

Most are double cabs and are made in Indiana. At least that's where my 2016 was made.

Pretty sure GM has started Crew Cab production in Fort Wayne. If you don't want a Mexico build just find a VIN starting with 1.

A: When you order a truck, you can't pick where it comes from. B: Even US built, still has more Mexico content (46%) than US content (42%). Ever been to Ford's Rouge truck plant? That's where America builds trucks.
