ToohighPSI or DSX-DP with Katech fuel pump.

Okay I am trying to decide which mod I should do next? I have two ideas and will of course consider anyone’s suggestions.

I am sitting at 750 RWHP safely, the track tune did 821 RWHP but it’s to spicy. My goal is minimum an extra 100 RWHP (850) but I will take anything higher as long as tuner says it’s safe. Because I can currently beat on my 750 tune no problem.

Idea #1

* DSX in-line low side booster pump
* Kong X port
* FIC 30% bigger injectors
* E85 (what ever number tuber can get E50?)
(Cost $6,300 estimate)

Idea #2

* Toohighpsi
* DSX in-line low side booster pump
* E85
(Cost $3500 estimate)

I am currently trying to read as much info on Toohighpsi, one concern is it easy to tune for tuner? Pretty sure they have done only 2 installs currently. Also it’s worth saying that I have heard from a local builder DSX is coming out with something that will possibly exceed what Toohighpsi has currently on the market. He said wait a month and see what DSX puts forward.

So there you have it, my ideas and I am looking for advice to go forward in my build.

My advice is to holdout and get the port figured out. Big DI stuff just isn’t cost effective and you’ll run out of steam again next time you turn up the boost. My DI system is pretty beefy and even that is out of steam again and I’m capped at E50 at full boost. I’ll be right there with you figuring out port injection this winter lol.

Yeah, I agree with you in regards to waiting. Plus I need to see what DSX is coming out with. Port injection is currently half the cost of going the other way with DI. Don’t know if you follow LMR in Texas but they just did a ZL1 with Toohighpsi and it made 1200 HP and a magnuson. Worth a look.

Agreed, I’m waiting on DSX too. Supposedly will be ready for order by years end. I’m not opposed to the THPSI system but if DSX comes out with something game changing, I don’t want to have to buy & install my port ECU twice lol.

Is there word on what DSX is actually coming out with? I can think of a capability or two that it would be nice for the THPSI controller to come out with, but it isn't holding anything back as-is, it seems to me. The integration is perfectly fine and hardware seems to as much as I would expect.

If DSX were able to get the E92 to talk to a PI controller, or there be a controller they're releasing that will do all the E92-stuff AND control PI - that would be sweet. It wouldn't work for my situation, but that would be great for the community. Maybe it's that LSX-controller they just announced.

I'm no tuner or anything, but you can get A LOT of information for adding PI from here, and especially on HPT's forum. A couple of those guys are over here, too, and have dropped lots of hints in recent threads for PI. Because I like ice skating uphill, I'm still trying "my" own thing for a little more, but if your tuner knows how to tune for meth - they can tune with THPSI's controller. I'd be done by now if I wasn't not following the normal way, and it seems many shops have had success with many builds so far.

AND - you get cleaner intake ports/valves.

I really can’t expand on what you just posted but I believe my tuner and he said wait. “Game changer” He’s really excited about this. So until DSX spills the beans I am waiting.

Yeah my understanding is that the DSX one will be the easiest to tune as it sounded like you’ll be able to use HP Tuners for both DI and port tuning. I wonder if he was able to integrate some of the LT5 program into the LT1/4 operating systems. That would essentially be OEM level DI and port injection control if so. So…that’s why I’m waiting lol.

If you're looking for more low side, I think Katech has a new pump that's pretty powerful but you might have already looked into this and if so, disregard haha.

This is going to wrap-up my build. I hate tapping the tank, and everything that it compromises. This looks and seems to have been perfect for what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. This Katech pump and port injection of either ToohighPSI or DSX new system will work great together. Talked to Dan at Katech and the plug and play system is not finished yet, the pump modules are available from Katech now. The plug and play systems not available till 2024. (2 months maybe or more)

I would opt for a version of your second option.

THP Port Injection
Katech dual pump low side
Kong X-port

With the mods that you already have that would be a reliable 850-900RWHP set up.

The fuel system also has room for growth when you're ready to move to a 2650.

Yes exactly. Pretty much decided.

* Katech dual pump
* back end of supercharger ported. X-port
* port injection (leaning to DSX because easier to tune for DI & Port injection under one controller hopefully)
* e50-e85

Mike is Katech going to up there CNC porting? I see Katech porting with snout and 103 which I have would only deliver 30 extra HP while Kong X porting delivers 100. Obviously it’s the cost, Kong is not cheap but $2800 is worth 100 HP IMO. Already 750 RWHP on the street is a handful, 850-900 will be nice at the track and the odd time on the street more than a handful. I might be able to relate to Josh.

We have no plans to make a race port like the Kong X-port at this time.

Our LT4 port is a great street port with no epoxy, a competitive price, and worth 30-40hp over stock. We just do not do the volume to justify the R&D on a race port. The Kong works as advertised for max effort stock blower setups.

I don't know the particulars on the DSX, but I had such great success with the TooHighPsi Port I wouldn't consider anything else. Mike and the team have some really fast cars out there. I'm proud of what they've done for the DI community, my affiliation with them has been a great experience. I know Mike continues to work hard improving the Reflex for his future and current customers. Good luck on your choice.
