Supercharger Manual Question

Does HP tables regulate the boost power levels in gear selection?

Looking for a way to regulate power in 1,2, and 3 gear. Basically at this point the increase power levels are roasting my tires off. My previous set up on my Nitrous setup I was able to ramp in the percentage at RPM levels to avoid spinning.

What are you guys doing for this? Is it something that the tuner needs to address at the track?

Ok was talking to tuner and how much the car spun in gears. No boost control thru gears. So that issue is dead.

He did mention, “Better to drive traction control off as torque management gets confused.” I was trying it with traction control on, and it was all over the place. So tomorrow I will try traction control off.

Hopefully you can find a way to keep it going straight! I had seen your post yesterday and thought that was probably the case with no boost control per gear built into the car. Isn't this what JOSHINATOR is doing with his Whipple 3.0? Smoothboost??.

Thanks for post and I don’t think it’s exactly what I am looking for. My problem it’s what that mod fixes, my supercharger hits instantly and lots of power but I would like to tame it down in the lower gears and able to ramp it in. It does not appear to be anything like that available. Wishful thinking on my part. Fresh new tires are the only answer I see currently.

There is no built-in boost control with PD superchargers, pulley sizes determine their rpm (thus boost) and the bypass valve is an on/off affair.

Smoothboost would mostly solve this problem [of you wanting a PD behave like a Procharger, heh], not sure why you're saying it isn't exactly what you're looking for. Is it that it's driven off the throttle position signal and doesn't reference the current gear?

I am not totally sure but it looks like smoothboost is not for 1.7 Easton supercharger. Whipple yes.

Another option is to pull timing in the areas where you don’t need the extra torque. I pull timing from 2500-5000 RPM to help prevent the tires from getting blown off.

I love that this is the solution. lol. "It's so powerful, I actually need to it make LESS power certain times."

Not dumb, the tires were worn so didn’t help. Waiting for new Nittos to show up.

The timing method as Josh outlined normally works very well, it will take a couple hits to get it dialed in at the track but very effective when done correctly, especially with a stock torque converter as that lower RPM area will only be touched at launch in 1st (or 2nd if you're leaving in second).

There are ways to do it on the LT4's, that is why they have a dual port bypass valve. If i remember correctly, factory PTM regulates boost to help with wheel spin conditions.

Haven't looked into it too much though.

Didn’t the earlier Gen6 ZL1 have the electronic bypass valve and then they switch to the vacuum lines? I thought I heard something like that or I could be wrong.
