Dude, that is so infuriating. We should NOT be paying for this or having to resort to hackery (which I did) to be able to affordably repair this. I wish we could see accurate numbers of the % of 5th gens this is affecting. I would place my money on over 70% of our cars eventually having a blend door failure.

I bought 4 or 5 extra blend doors from Rock Auto for when GM inevitably discontinues this part. Don't even get me started on that!

I hear's ya! I bit the bullet and bought the aluminum blend door and a hot knife. Not looking forward to this hack job but maybe a good winter project. My old azz is only pulling the seat and hacking into the under dash ONCE!
