Bloomington Gold June 21/22.
Just curious if any other members will be attending the Corvette Bloomington Gold Show in Indianapolis this weekend as they have invited Camaros to attend this year (non-judged)?

I went to the show this year and it was a great time. Camaro turnout on Saturday was very low. Hopefully next year we can represent. Dates for next year are June 25-27. I was told that there will be more things for Camaros next year. The Gold laps were great as we bought those for my Father in Law for Fathers Day. Pretty sweet to take a few laps around the Speedway. Really hoping the turnout next year is bigger. It is a really well run show for sure!

Indy82Z: I have to say that I felt the opposite. I wasn't very impressed with the show. I was also there on Saturday, I thought the Camaro turn out was ok for a Corvette only show that's been around for decades. I would've liked to have seen more earlier generations of Camaros as 90% were 5th or 6th. As for the Corvettes though, I thought attendance was low, but I have never been to that show before to gauge what a normal attendance level is. I felt the swap meet area was very low as well and the majority were packing up already as I started walking through. I don't know if it was the threat of severe weather all the time that kept people away or something else, though it never rained during my time there on Saturday. I thought about doing the Track laps (just to kind of rub it in my dads face as he is a big Indy fan), (2 laps for $40 for those that didn't make it), but I didn't like all the rules. 60 mph MAX, no exceptions, no leaving gaps to the speed up (therefore exceeding 60 mph) and catch the group. You could be fined up to $250, escorted from the show and possibly banned from future shows. I get that the laps are just to say you've gotten to drive your car on the Brickyard, but I was going 20-25mph faster on the freeway just getting there. I would've felt like I was putzing around the track. I understand the insurance and not everyone can handle their car at certain speeds, but these are sports cars that your limiting to less than freeway speeds. These people should at least be able to open them up a bit on the front and back stretches as THEY ARE ON A RACE TRACK!. I was able to hear a few cars running on the AutoX whilst walking around, but once I made it over there, nobody was running. It didn't seem like more than 1 car was interested. I enjoyed how much it seemed Chevrolet participated, they brought the whole range of Camaros and all were open to "play in" with the exception of the new LT1 trim. Nice that all the Corvettes were wide open as well. It wasn't crowded at all, so I could spend as much time in whatever model without feeling rushed. I will likely give it another try, but if next year turns out the same, I likely won't make the trip again (Milwaukee). The saving grace for me is that I have relatives within an hour drive from the show, so I didn't feel like the weekend was a complete waste. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it, it's possible my expectations were too high.

I was actually there on Saturday as well. I did the Gold Laps in my SS 1LE and a few of us definitely went more than 60 around the track. There was one cop right after turn 2 my first time around, and then was at the beginning of turn 3 on my second time. I did about 90 through one of the turns and talked to some other guys there that went just as fast and even a little faster.
The show was pretty cool, but I did feel like there wasn't as many cars on Saturday as previous days, and the gold laps are worth the money, but I do wish they would let you go faster without being a rule breaker |

I saw all the rules for the Gold Laps and I can tell you that no one actually followed them. I know even my wife hit nearly 90 on the turns and I know there were others doing 120+ in the straight away's. I will definitely be there next year, but do agree, there needs to be way more Camaro's!! I had low expectations of a turn out this year as it was the first, but hopefully next year brings a better turnout.
