Side skirts

I have a 19 1LE with eos T6 style skirts. These I’d have to say do not contour very well and even with higher quality tape don’t stay on the rocker worth a damn…. Looking for some better options. I have them screwed underneath but nothing through the sides of the rocker as these are open underneath not closed in. What are people using that actually are good contoured to the body lines and rivet underneath and tape on the sides of the rocker… are IKON or the ZL1Addons any good? Don’t really want to go all the way to $7-800.

I suggest OEM, the GM parts fit perfect, are attached with rivets and adhesive, solid (not open on the bottom), no problem holding up at 150+ (in proper location of course!) and of course, they match the 1LE ground effects perfectly.

My opinion, many threads on this, but OEM is the best option for me.

Under OEM you’re likely looking at ACS from a quality standpoint. After that C7 Carbon is ok but I had minor issues with the passenger side o my SS when I had it. It sorta becomes sketchy under that with hit or miss fit/finish.

OK Below is EXACTLY how you should attach them. These are my EOS ZL1 style side skirts and I used around 25 RIVETS per side and these AINT coming off. Also put some vinyl door edge guard material on the bottom edge of the shirt as well to protect the edges if they get hit. I track this car ALL time. I DID NOT use tape. The fit is VERY GOOD. These can take a beating from underneath and have.

So you just went and out a whole 10+ holes in the side of your rocker as well as the bottom? If you ever take them off your going to have aton of homes down the side of your car. I also have the t6 style not the zl1 so mine don’t go up the rocker as far as yours do.

If they have to be taken off in favor of a different design or due to an accident, another one will get installed and reuse/cover the holes. Nobody removes side skirts and leaves thir Camaro "bare" again.

Worst case the rocker panels themselves can also be replaced or swapped out for the integrated ZL1 rocker+skirt combo part.

These holes are NOT visible if you have the side skirts ON and even if if they get torn off for some reason I will replace it with a new side skirt. The side of the car you refer to is JUST the rocker panel underneath which is easily removable and replaced if you ever decided NOT to run side skirts. The STOCK rocker panel is held on with plastic body clips and is NOT metal anyway so there is NOT an issue with a hole later on being a rust source.

Look at some of the corvettes and you will see that they also have the AERO parts like the side skirts and spoiler extensions riveted on from the FACTORY. They were not foolish enough to believe like some of the LOCAL GM dealers that apparently were too lazy to follow GM assembly instructions on the 1LE skirts for instance that specifically call for the skirts to be RIVETED on.

AERO pieces are NOT going to stay on at 180MPH with just double sided tape and will CERTAINLY NOT in any case of an impact If you can take your hand and you can push the aero piece away from the body with just a gentle push, then your aero piece will fail. Do a search on Camaro6 and you will see where guys have lost their side skirts because their dealer IMPROPERLY installed factory side skirts (just tape) on the HIGHWAY at speed with NO IMPACT due just the force of the air pressure. IF you dont believe this, stick your hand out your window at 100MPH and see what happens.

Rivets are a must! OEM uses many of them, an under skin that rivets to the car. Adhesive and more rivets for the outer skin, then finally, more rivets underneath. The adhesive, 3M, essentially welds the two skins into one solid unit.

All completely invisible unless you are under the car. They are NOT coming off!!! Like the 1LE factory ground effects, they are functional, not cosmetic, and must be very secure. All IMO of course. You shake the entire car by grabbing one, solid as heck!

Did you have to hold it flush as you drilled in the sides?? So it hugged the car tight? Might have to do mine like this mine are Also only screwed in from the bottom sides aren’t on good at all

I used PAINTERS tape just to hold the skirts in place. The RIVET will push the shirt tightly to the body when you install them. I used a rivet gun that was attached to an air compressor which applies the pressure to the rivet more evenly and with more force than a manually operated rivet gun.
