Lighter, with the 6.4 hemi, and a manual is what I want. No manual, no care.

I know I've said this before. I'm old and I like burning dead dinosaurs and hearing that wonderful NPP exhaust at full roar. BUT I'm not so sure that if the greatest automobile manufacturer the world has ever known decides to focus on EV that they all will be a "Karen's car". I suspect all those "easy" 10 sec runs by Tesla will be their bench mark and they have the fiscal backing to produce them. Not that I want to drive one, just saying.

No chance. There is a low roof EV planned but not confirmed to be a Camaro. Apparently the 6th gen will be around until 2025, will get a special edition to see it out the door, and go on hiatus again.

Well I hope you're wrong. I feel the success of the retro 2005 Mustang pushed Chevy and Dodge back into the segment. If Dodge and Ford carry the internal combustion torch maybe Chevy will follow.

The sales of the Camaro on it's own will never justify it having it's own platform. Alpha, and now Alpha2 (which underpins the current Cadillac CT4 and CT5) is the only appropriate platform for the Camaro...is it not? I can't think of any others.
GM has already stated the current CT4 and CT5 will be the last of their kind before they go completely electric. I don't see a way forward for Camaro, unless it goes full EV.

It's good, but I must say I prefer Camaro soooo much more than Charger. It's a cruiser, family car, comfortable boat which can do turns better than Camry, but still heavy chunky boy.

That's true for the current Charger/Challenger but the new platform will be much better. As good as the Gen6 Camaro; we shall see. Anyway kudos to Dodge for seeing not everone is on board with EV.

...And now for something completely different...Oh well, the story was fun while it lasted..
https://www.musclecarsandtrucks.com/...electric-only/ The office janitor of a source that was feeding incorrect information about GM future product plans must have gotten a job in Auburn Hills recently, because Motor Trend recently published something only to get debunked officially by Stellantis shortly after. It’s not often that an automaker or brand goes on record to dispel a report, so we’re going to have to side with the official commentary for this one. The story claimed that Dodge is planning next-generation Charger and Challenger muscle cars on the STLA Large platform, with the Hurricane inline turbo-six serving duties in place of the 5.7L and 6.4L Hemi V8 engines. A Hellcat V8 would be available for the more expensive SRT performance models. Dodge nipped that rumor almost immediately, going on record to say: “the story is incorrect. The Hemi in that platform, as well as that platform, are going away. The next generation will be BEV.” In all fairness, that plan probably was in the cards at one point, but the Stellantis EV Day presentations from last year really seemed to put ice on any expectation that Dodge would keep its Hemi V8 engines roaring. Although, we’d certainly like to believe. The Dodge Challenger and Charger in their current form are wildly popular, and profitable. The market is there. The customer is there. But they’re not politically correct. So, there you go. |
