I've had both and they pretty much drive the same. Both lowered on the Phastek lowering springs. They both have the same basic interior but the Lt1 doesn't have the heated seats and a little cheaper looking dash gauges. Other then that you really won't see any difference in my opinion. My 2016 listed for almost 40k and I think I paid about 37,500 with my discounts of GM card, dealer and military. My 2022 listed for about the same and I wrote a check for just about 36500. Mine does have the Bose and Brembo up front and my 1SS had the cheap stereo with no rear speakers. The red is my 2016. I also picked up a set of rear SS Carbon flash wheels and swapped out to 245 40 20 and 285 35 20 Nitto 555G2s which are the same tires I put on the 16 SS for the street but went to a 295 35 20 on the aftermarket wheels on the red car.

No, I purchased a set of MRR M228 wheels in 20x10 ET 23. I think stock LT1 can only fit up to a 255, which IMO is not worth upgrading to. I'm keeping my stock wheels for now as a winter set.

Thanks. You're right about 255's Not being enough.
Being in Florida just a summer set is good. I'm sure SS takeoffs are out there to be had. |

I have owned a 2016 2SS, a 2018 ZL1, and now a 2020 LT1. If you put SS tires on a LT1 there is zero difference driving even on a race track. There with the same tires the LT1 will run with an SS for a few laps, but over time the SS more advanced cooling system will keep the SS running faster for more laps. I added the 1LE wheels and tires as my summer setup. My LT1 with this setup I m sure my LT1 would be faster than a stock SS for a while, but here too remember The superior SS cooling will win out. I loved my SS and sorry I ever sold it.
But if I keep a gas powered car it will be the LT1. I can say after having Mag ride in the SS and the ZL1 I do not miss it at all on the LT1. I do miss the HUD a little and the heated steering wheel. However the SS is also very good choice in my book.

I had 1SS and now LT1.
This car was far cheaper and struck better spec’d. The tech package, rear camera. The A10 vs A8. Both have FE3 suspension. The simpler dash and few other things I dont miss. I wanted a super clean, muscle car with little fluff and bs. LT1 was a brilliant buy/order for me. |

The price difference between the 2 is about 3k. You will eat that cost savings up real quick putting rims and tires on the lt1. And you still have the crappy dash, smaller infotainment screen, down graded brakes, and a way lower speed governor. IMO there is no value in getting a lt1 with prices so close

I would get a 1LE if you want to track race. I am actually planning on taking my LT1 to an autocross but I am looking to get some 275s in the rears and probably stick with 245s in the front with different sent of wheels and tires and keeping the stock 245s for winter.

Buying bigger wheels and tires for the LT1 allows you to have the stockers left for winter driving, or just for long trips. So there’s some value there, for the right people. As far as all of the other negatives you mentioned, happily - none of them matter to me. |

The idea behind the LT1 was a minimal V8 configuration for those that don't want the frills. Optioning up an LT1 pretty much flies in the face of this.
That said, there is the one glitch that sneaked into the "system", those subpar rear tires that get replaced on many LT1s. As Chutzpah says, though, one can turn even that into lemonade with separate summer/winter setups.

My first Camaro was a 1SS without Magride, so I assume it handles pretty much like an LT1, other than the different tires. When I moved to a 1SS 1LE the handling difference was very obvious. Full disclosure I really like carving it up, so the way I drive accentuates the difference. |
