That starter doesn't mention anything about being heat resistant though, just mentions high torque ??

Get a regular starter and wrap it with a heat shield.

My headers are coated and I've never had this issue, my starter needs to be replaced soon though because ... car is 6 years old lol.

I wonder if non coated headers cause this issue.

Just cause I'm homeless doesn't mean I can't do it myself. Also I'm assuming this heat shield wrap will work? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000E...TxL&ref=plSrch How do I attach it to the starter though? I read the description but it just looks like a fancy way to say Velcro

In another website it does say it won't heat soak. Also if it's high torque will it start the car quicker? The Camaro seems to start a little slower than other cars. Or is that just because it's a performance vehicle?

Has to be done at the park, he has no home.

For what it's worth, I've been in a few starter and alternator rebuild shops. Kind of a dying "art." They can tend to use the cheapest parts available. Go OE.

Do our cars have a gear-motor type starter? Lower RPM, hi torque? I've always felt like my starter was dragging. It's consistently low & slow though.

It's Velcro, just wraps around and sticks together. If you're worried about attaching it more securely, buy the stainless cable ties in the listing.

If anyone is interested, I took pics of my starter after I swapped it.

Powermaster is a good brand I think, but OEM works just fine.

When mine started going south a few back, I bought a Powermaster from a good vendor. The one I got didn't fit... it was too big so I returned it.

Luckily, the shop had some quick connections and was able to get me an OEM from another local on the spot. That was immediately that. Its been a few months now and the new one is still turning hard. You can hear the difference of the starter motor at start up after 90k worth of startups from the old one. The lazy starts are gone.

I was worried prior to replacing that I may have a bigger electrical (ground) issue as some stated. But that didn't seem to be the case.

Recommendation - OEM or aftermarket Starter, you're going to be just fine.

This?

So wrap this around the starter?

Not trying to throw things off topic, I'd wonder how this would work on a cold air intake?

Anyone else agree with that guy that I should get the heat shield wrap that's adhesive vs the other one we were talking about in this thread?
