I've had problems with dealers in my area as well. I caught them putting 0w/40 European oil that was not DEXOS in the ZL1. They acted oblivious but charged me the expensive price of the 0w/40 DEXOS2. When insisting that the correct oil be used, it became a huge issue. Long story short, I don't go there with the ZL1. They wouldn't let me in the shop with the usual safety excuse. So I stayed outside and peaked through a garage window to verify the correct oil was used. It's difficult to find a reputable dealer
I'm unsure how to go about it.
I've only lived here for a bit over 2 years. I took it to a different place when the radio screen stopped working. They wanted $1600 to fix it but I ended up buying the HMI myself for 1/3rd thier price.
The dealer in CA that caused this mess wasnt any better but at least they didnt price gouge me every time I walked in there.

So is it the current dealership and technician saying they believe the oil pan is full of metal ? If a new or a used engine is put in go ahead and do a billet pump.

I know it’s a stretch, but you might want to go for the lemon law, make it a walk away thing.

Customer service rep said that thier field engineer reported that the "oil filter was installed incorrectly" and the wrong oil was used. Then brought up that the car was tracked; a car advertised by gm as a track vehicle.

I've changed thousands of filters in my life. I dont see how its even possible to install a filter incorrectly and if it was it would leak all over the ground. I stated that as for the oil the oil listed in the manual was used.

The local dealership admitted to gm that they did not do any actual diagnosis other than it has no oil pressure, then reported to gm that they have no authorization to work on it when I have an email chain between me and the service advisor that says to pull the pan and if the bearings are ok then fix it. Before the car was dropped off I told them about the TSB and that it had no oil pressure. I dont think they even looked into it. I sent them the TSB and never heard from them again.

They seem to be unreachable at this time. I would say that they should bow out, but they already repeatedly ran an engine for an amount of time that they will not disclose to me. At this point it wouldnt surprise me if they drove the car into the bay.

Sounds like excuses to not follow through. Did you talk to an attorney?

Sounds like you are not getting anywhere with GM, I would take the money they offered you and get a lawyer to write a letter to the dealership or do it your self if you have the ability. State you will be picking the car up and if any damage is done to the engine beyond the oil pump from them running the engine they will be responsible for it and your attorney fees to collect the damages.
I would NOT keep my car at that dealer for one more second.
You need to do all this via certified mail so you have receipts. You are in Texas you can do this all in small claims court I would assume, which you can try yourself but they have lawyers so it can get hairy with all the legal nonsense in filing claims and responses.
If its just the oil pump its a $3-4k job TOPS with most performance shops from prices I have seen.
It sucks but this dealer isn't doing the right thing.
I would talk to a local performance shop and see what they tell you. See if they can read the logs to see how long it was ran after you got the low oil message. Get the proof and go after them.

I did contact a few lawyers about it.
I'm supposed to have a conference call on tuesday with GM rep and the Service manager for the dealer where the car is at now.

WOW....A 2020!
Obviously the problem really hasn't been fixed even though there are many more 2017's and 2018's that have been reported here.
Very disturbing.

Electric Camaro won't have an oil pump failure!

Seriously, this is a load of BS on their part, I hope it works out for you.

Katech tested all GM fuel pump revisions and stated that 2019+ revisions were stronger, but all of them failed their torture test in the end.

I think what GM probably did was just a few slight alterations to the pump to make the weakest part a bit stronger, but no significant design revision, possibly due to costs associated with testing and/or recertification. Another potential reason I can think of is that since the Camaro team got disbanded and replaced by caretakers in late 2018, there was not enough expertise left to drive a more substantial design change for newer model years.

Joke but no so much, since the other posts where we found out GM is selling all of our driving info, every start and drive, if the 3rd parties already have your data, you can get the report and see how long they run the car with the oil pressure issue....
