Adjusting Afm(DoD) values (Results)

has anyone played around with the settings? Im wanting to raise the speed at which the vehicle needs to be going before it kicks in. Thinking about setting it up so it wont enable below 45 mph. Just wanted to see if anyone else has done anything other then just turn it off.

Give it a shot, datalog it, and let us know how it goes. IMO 45 MPH seems too high a speed; the bulk of the FE gains you'll see from DoD is in lower load, which is going to be primary surface road and city applications.

What are the current settings doing that you don't like?

It's an aftermarket ECM/TCM tuner.

I think its the opposite...the majority of the gains from AFM is cruising in high gear on flat roads above 45mph. AFM does very little in the city other then annoy the shit out of most because it constantly kicks in and out.

I don't have it activated on mine [6MT], so I was spitballing from typical road horsepower & aero drag at Interstate speeds.

If that's the case, then go for it. Sounds like if the settings were adjusted further to keep it from engaging/disengaging so much in the city it may also improve the drivability.

as others have said its with using hptuners and its under fuel, lean/fuel savings tab

The reason I wanna change it is around town its kinda annoying since we have a lot of very steep grades and it will constantly kick in and out. With the drop in mpg after turning it completely off, I figured this would be the best of both worlds.

I'll be out of town this weekend so when I get back I will try it and be the guinea pig.

In the 5th Gen it was. Might have changed now. I haven't had AFM since my 1st two 5th Gens.

There was a separate table showing each gear.

Correct it cannot be adjusted by gear. So I'm sure this is the only way to do what I'd like it to do

Hope you give some feedback when you have tried it out. I have been thinking of doing the same thing, putting the speed up for when it activate DOD to get get away from the irritating switching back and forth when driving in town. i dont mind the DOD when going down the highway on cruse control.

Just wanted to update this and say it was a success....kinda. It stayed off like I want it to and started @ 50mph. I had the settings set at 45 for the min vss,and 5 for the min vss hyst. The only reason I said kinda is after it turned on, I assumed due to the settings it would switch back to v8 mode if it went below 45 mph. It stayed on until I pushed the throttle (like normal) or came almost to a stop.

If anyone has any ideas about that please let me know. Im really happy with the results as it is.
