I have not tracked myself but what I have heard is that you do notice a bit of a decrease in performance after a few laps as the battery heats up but it levels off and stays pretty consistent the remainder of the session. Here is what Tesla is doing and I assume GM and others will have similar strategies. Overclocking the AC compressor to help cool the battery is an interesting method. https://www.tesla.com/blog/how-track-mode-works https://www.tesla.com/support/track-mode

Heating is a big drain, to the point that Tesla has now included a heat pump in the Model 3 and Model Y now. AC usage actually has minimal impact. Another surprise for first time EV owners is that there is a 12v accessories battery in Tesla EVs in addition to the main battery. The 12V is used for the audio systems, windows, etc. like an ICE based vehicle. When the car is "sleeping" so to speak, if the 12v battery needs charging the car wakes up and transfers energy from the main battery to the 12v accessory battery.

Good point but gas stations need electricity to pump gas. However, after all the hurricanes here in Florida many gas stations have installed generators now.

Or an EMP attack. granted all modern cars would be useless then, but electric would be useless even longer due to needing charging stations. |

Yep EVs are no different than any other car on the road n this regard.
Now if you want to hack a car with Level 2 autonomous features and drive the car around…..still the same as the CT6 with Super Cruise is more advanced than Tesla. Hacking a cars computer is the same for an ICE and EV.

Question about a possible electric Camaro. My apologies if this was already covered and I didn't see it.
I could've ordered an automatic in my car to be faster but instead, I got a stick just because they are more fun to drive IMO. So, along those same lines, would it ever be a possibility that they would sell a Camaro that is normally AWD for the launches but could be switched into RWD only just to have a more spirited driving experience? I can't see this being anything else but simple programming and it seems like it would go a long way to satisfy the "EVs have no soul" crowd. Thoughts?

Looks like Ford is leaving it up to Consumers to decide the fate of the ICE Mustang especially the V8 Mustang.

If push comes to shove I guess it’s a Mustang in the future for me if GM kills the L-series V8s. |
