How to improve ZL1 A10 with maggie but no TCM tune - 60'??

Looking to do better than the 1.68 short time in my maggie A10 ZL1. Car is stock otherwise with no TCM tune. Just maggie and rotofab. Car already has 17" drag radials and Im not having any traction issues.

I've seen many people run their fastest short times just stabbing it from idle. Not bringing it up off idle. Thats how I got my 1.68 sixty. Any tips on anything I can do from different modes to launch RPM or using the factory launch control.

Here's a video of my last pass in the Florida heat, DA was 2500.

Nope, your fighting the same thing we all are. I'm getting a new TCM this winter and getting my short times into the 1.30s. Pray Performance now has the TCMs to sell and a better price than Houston Speed or whatever their name is. I'll get mine from him and I think that will also cure some of our other torque management issues. My best is 1.46 but at 2650 rpm its pulls a lot of timing so we can't improve that till we can correct the TMC issues.

Your strategy is what I've seen others have the most success with. Stab from off-idle. It'd be interesting to see what a TCM could do for you. There are, obviously, videos and posts about the benefits, but there are known TM limits to protect the drivetrain. So - that's the big question... Do you want to remove that protection in search of better results?

Cool video though!

Their website isn't up yet. Do you have to call them or something? Do you know if these are the same as HHPs, or are they from another company?

I've been talking to Brett some because he's working on his Zl1 with Mike's port injection and I happened to tell him my plans for the winter and the issues we were having with the Torque Management, he has his own guy doing the TCMs for him and that's how I found out. He said they had 4 on the shelf a couple days ago. In the past I've tried just about every RPM on the launch up to 2k and none have produced any better short times then slapping the baby on the ass right off idle. Above idle it just seems like the car doesn't react and doesn't flash the converter like it does right off idle. I found the same thing on the NA cars like my C7, chassis just doesn't like it either it seems. I'll find out how Brett wants people to contact him about the TCMs.

Been telling you this for years. The throttle won't open all the way with a stock trans tune. The 2016's were not the same which is why you didn't have this issue on your old Camaro.

Yes its very frustrating with these cars. They are tuned and programmed so smartly that they will counter act anything you do to them. Like before you get a normal tune, you can add all the parts you want, but its not going to go any faster. The car will just pull itself back and negate anything you did to make it faster.

I'll have to reach out to Brett to see about that TCM - how much and so on. The shit part with the HHP unit is dealing with Chuck from HHP. Hes the biggest DOUCHENOZZLE on the planet. Permanent chip on his shoulder, someone you never want to talk to about anything. I'm happy to see someone else taking market share from him.

You bet, it will be after the 1st of the year. No hurry since we are starting into winter like you are. Gotta do it to make anymore progress.

Didn't you already have the HHP TCM? You don't need to have HHP tune it. All you need is the TCM that is unlocked and ready to drop in. Then a couple codes need disabled, and you are off to the races. Anybody that tunes these cars can tune it for you.

That's my plan, gotta do it to get where I wanna go. Not planning on making anymore power, just unlocking the power the TCM is holding back. I guess that's the right way to say it. I've not heard anyone say that unlocking the trans slowed them down. Most have said it's worth a tenth to two tenths. Not sure that's true but I'm going to find out.

It's true and been documented. You should go 9.60's with the trans tune once you allow the throttle to fully open out the hole and set so it's not pulling -20 degrees on the shifts. And likely another tenth if you remove all torque management and it shifts full torque.
