SC3 is best choice if you track and drive on street.

If just street, MPS4S

If track mostly and less street, then you can look at cup 2’s or the other dual purpose DOT tire, Nitto, Toyo etc, but 20” limits options for track dual duty tires.

Best Regards,
Dave

Why not do Michelin PS4S on the front, and Toyo R888R on the rear? Good traction and decent in the rain. You'd also cut the R888R noise in half.

Try Nitto's new tires

Nitto has a new drag radial in the stock size on the rear. No messing with wider tires or spacers, they come in 305/30R20 . Nitto NT555RII. Good milage for a drag radial and great off the line traction. New sidewall design. About $330 each.: :

You are joking, I hope. Mixing tires with completely different characteristics, can be extremely dangerous and make handling unpredictable.

Do they make a tire that can be used in slight winter conditions? I live in North GA...usually no snow on the roads, but it can get cold. 3 season or all-season performance tires that will fit the non-1LE.

Tho I understand what you are saying, for me this application works great. I run 295/30/20 PS4S in front and 325/30/20 in the rear without issues. I primarily use my car for Rally drives, roll racing, and drag racing. I push the car pretty hard into the corners (on the street) while being aware of the cars, tires, and my limitations. Now if I was tracking then of course I would want the same compound all around.

My combo works great as an all around package. If I was only interested in straight line then a full drag set up would be in order, but then handling is completely out the window.

I've had the same question Joe and from what I've read, I am going to go with the Michelin PS4S because my vert is my DD and it won't see the track. I've been told they'll handle the cold and if there is any snow down here and I have to get out, I'll just drive the wife's XC90. Just deciding right now if I want to change out the rims for something different while I'm changing the tires as well.

I'd look at the PS4S and the SC3. Cup 2 would work but are pretty expensive. I dont know if the R888 is safe enough for the rain Tampa gets.

This... Justin Keith just went 9.9 @ 140 with the 305/30/20 on his Intake, Tune only C7ZR1. These tires are said to handle rain surprising well also.

Thumbs up

Good luck NiteBlitz on wherever your tire journey takes you.

Just in case anyone was curious about RFTs on a ZL1, I'm getting Michelin RFTs (3 front, 4S rear) installed on 9/24/2020 at Costco. I'll update my thread in the Tires section on how these new treads compare to my well worn out stock Eagle Supercar non-RFTs.

I just don't understand how people do anything in the SC3's besides track in them. They're flat out scary in the rain above 40mph and they are so noisy at speed.

I use Bridgestone RE980AS 295/305 on stock size non-ZLE wheels and they’re great. Nashville area so very similar to N GA weather.

I currently am running stock GY fronts and the new Nitto NT555RII’s on the rear. They seem to hook good with my M6. Haven’t been caught in the rain yet, but I used to run the first generation NT555R’s on my 3rd and 4th Gen F-Bodies and they where actually great in the rain.

I was dead set on the toyo's but the more I look into it the more doubts I have. My ultimate goal was traction, but I only take it out to the strip once maybe twice a month. And the rain can come down anytime here in FL. Now I am leaning towards the Pilot sport 4 S's from Costco but the 285's are out of stock. I dont need them immediately, probably got one to two months left. The thing I dont like about getting them from Costco is they wont let me put 315's in the back I have to stick to the 305's.

Alternatively I am eyeing the sport cup 2 tires as well.

Just trying to get as much info before pulling the trigger as the tires are not cheap, and I will be stuck with them for a bit.

This tire setup seems like a great combination on the ZL1. An R compound in the rear is good for straight line traction but didn’t think for handling. Is the ZL1 still able to corner well with the radials in the back and stock GY up front? Did you notice less cornering ability with those tires in the rear or no?
