Why Potholes Suck 101
After catching a pothole that I could not avoid, and spending nearly a year...you heard that right. Taking it to several shops because I was the only one on the planet that could feel the vibration in the car.
I discovered: 1. All 4 tires had shifted belts = replaced 2. Both rear bearings were bad = replaced 3. Rear passenger half shaft bent = replaced 4. Rear Driver wheel bent = figuring out options So with number 4 my question do I dare let someone try to straighten it, or should I buy a new wheel. Only problem I have is the 800.00 dollar price of a wheel. Does anyone know if this can be claimed on insurance, I just wouldnt tell them when it happen and make it seem recent. |

Did you have a 4 wheel alignment done?

Yes, you should be able to make an insurance claim. After your deductible, probably not worth it. I had a good experience getting a wheel straightened. It cost about $250 dollars because I had them remove the road rash and redo the clear coat along with straightening it, remounting tire and balancing.

I would have went the insurance route right from the start to cover everything and a car rental. Depends on your policy I guess. Checked mine, I am covered with stuff like that and full replacement value for 4 years. Extra monthly cost but piece of mind.

With all the frustration you've had, why not just replace the wheel or replace all the wheels and go aftermarket.

That is what comprehensive coverage is for, used it when the dealer told me the front two struts were bent on the old ladies car.

My Grandfather taught me to steer clear of these even before I was driving (legally anyways), and I’ve been lucky. My wife on the other hand, I’ve been trying to coach her thru dodging potholes for 28 years. She manages to hit every one lol. My opinion, purchase a new wheel, but easy for me to say - good luck.

Just a shout out for APEX Wheels. I did have the bad paving patch event myself. My new Arc-8s are just months old. They have a protection package one for one for up to 4 wheels for the first 2 years. Your enrolled automatically if you bought with them or through an auth reseller (me). Its a 50 percent discount for a brand new wheel replacement for the first 2 years.
