2016 SS A8 rough 1-2 shift?

I bought a used 2016 SS with the automatic a few weeks ago. Largely happy with it, just one thing that's been bugging me a bit.

When I'm driving it sedately, in "tour" (which has been a lot lately with the crappy weather) I've noticed that the 1-2 shift can be a bit rough and jerky. The other shifts are fine, and if I'm giving it a good amount of gas, 1-2 is fine, it's just if I'm accelerating slowly that it's jerky.

Is this just the way the transmission is, or is it something that should be looked at?

It’s pretty common with the A8. I could be wrong but I believe it is because of the AFM.

mine does this on occasion, but usually because it hasn't warmed to operating temperature yet. I've not noticed it when its had enough time to warm up.

Mine does it too. It’s just a really hard 1-2 shift, that seems out of place when driving conservatively. But I’ve noticed it after sufficient warm-up time too!

Good luck getting GM to do anything about it. It is a common complaint on this transmission. Mine does it on the first shift of the morning and in the summer when the trans temp gets up to 150, it will do it everytime while you are driving lightly. If you get stuck in stop and go traffic while its doing this, it will drive you insane. I even switched to the new recommended GM/mobile one transmission fluid and it made ZERO difference. This A8 trans is horrible in anything but all out acceleration.

Wrong- Not the AFM.... it needs a fluid flush and trans reprogram.

Ive had 3 flushes, torque converter changed, fluid changed to the new GM Dexron HP and reprogramed. Its still the same. Just waiting until I get the car paid down a little more and this sucker is outta here. No more Camaros for me unless the refresh has the A10 and even then ill wait to see what issues people have. GM screwed the pooch on the A8. Great idea that was poorly executed

Mine does this on the first couple of shifts in the morning. Let the dealer know the next time you take it in. They will reprogram the trans and more than likely flush the fluid.

Thanks for the info folks.

Mine is doing it warm or cold, doesn't seem to matter. I'll mention it next time it's at the dealer, see if they can do anything. If not, no biggie. Mine's not bad enough to put me off the car, just mildly annoying.

I've never had much luck with GM automatic transmissions. I should have known. I have the rough 1-2 shift when cold and it feels like the torque converter lockout is cutting in and out at about 45 mph when trans is warmed up. Loved my M6 in my Corvette. Should have saved the extra money and got the manual.

FOR ALL THOSE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE:

HERE IS THE FIX:

While its not exactly a PROBLEM persee, GM is aware of this issue and there IS a fix for it... There is actually TSP issue related to the TCM. I was experiencing this and took it in and they re-calibrated my TCM and the issue went away. It hasn't been doing it since... Here...read my thread and at the very end you will see the solution:
