Best Differential Oil?

I just received my 3.91 gears and Detroit Trutrac. Planning on doing the install this weekend. Wondering what’s the best / recommend gear oil?

Thanks!

For a bunch of years I used Amsoil Gear Lube. Worked in everything...except this Camaro! It liked the GM OE stuff better. (quieter) But that’s on a stock diff.

Detroit Trutrac does not recommend synthetics or friction modifiers. (fyi)
Go to their web page for recommendations.

Ah, good to know. I’ll go check out what they recommend. Thank you!

I've been using Lucas 85w-140 conventional gear lube with my TrueTrac. I run the Z/28 diff cooler to help keep the temps in check since I track mine.

I have had good luck with the Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 in my rear so far (didn't use additional Friction Modifier). But the car is so damned loud that I probably wouldn't hear if it was making noise!

Amsoil here as well. Used Amsoil in the 1LE with GM friction modifier. And now Amsoil in the Z/28 without the modifier. Have not had any issues with either and I tracked both

It was night and day with mine. I was bummed to have to drain 2-day old Amsoil. But it's possible if it was really loud I wouldn't have caught it. Only when turning, of course.

Good to know about the TruTrac recommendation.
