PS. The only way to have a problem with one of these is to use the wrong one. Count the number of flats; it has to match the filter.

While some filters have a fine enough thread to call for 1 full turn, the PF48 is coarser and so the requirement is 3/4 turn. For me, it's hard to do this reliably by hand if I'm lying on my back with the car up on ramps. I can either see the filter or be in a position to turn the filter, but not both at the same time.

So I use the cap wrench. I align the ratchet handle with a reference on the chassis and turn it 270 degree. That is snug but never a problem getting the filter off.

I can't imagine deforming one of these cap wrenches. I have three sizes for various cars, and they are all at least 25 years old.

No, PF48 is a Ac Delco filter filter number. You're thinking of PH, which is usually Fram.
