That means you are paying at a MINIMUM, depending on mile allocation, wear and tear, charges, etc, 45% of the car's value in three years. Since you are paying 45% of the car's value based on MSRP, you are likely paying for more than half the vehicle's true value at the time of the lease signing. How does that make sense to you financially?

I can BUY my car, use it for three years, and sell it for well more than half of the car's value without having to worry about disposition fees, excess wear and tear BS, etc.

It only makes sense to lease cars with a high residual value (Honda)

I agree, these cars aren't depreciating very much at all if looking at the average sale price instead of MSRP.

That initial hit is brutal man lol. I put zero down too, but I plan on making a couple big payments before the end of the year.

As long as you sell the car to a dealer or someplace like CARMAX or DGDG.com and don't just do a lease turn-in, you will get any additional value back.

I just did this on my M3. If I had turned it in, I was over 8K over on the mileage and would have had to pay $2,800 over mileage fee.

Instead I sold it to DGDG.com and not only did I not have to pay a mileage penalty, they offered me 3K more than the residual. So the delta for me between turning the car in a and selling it was pretty substantial.

Never just turn a lease in, look at other options before you do that.

I'm hoping to keep my 18 1LE until I'm 6' under the ground.

60 years old now.

It'll be my last cool ride.

I've owned two used and three new Camaro's since I was 16. And, Every Gen Corvette up to a C6, except for a C1.

All purchased brand new except for my C2. '65 327 Coupe '

I'm Retired now and living on a State Govt pension.
I went to one dealer after speaking with several dealers about ordering a 1LE. 10K in my pocket.
The order price was just under 46K with PDR. Just about every option allowed for a 1LE.
I paid around 42 with about 32K Financed.
The price sounds fair to me, I'm not going to sit here and nickel and dime.
Finance me for under $450.00 per month. This is what I can afford, I'm not going to lease.
I have 10k to put down, my Credit is Excellent at around 845.
They phoned my Cell in under 30 minutes.
How does $437.99 sound for 7 years at around 2.5% interest?
The dealer I went to before them offered me a lease with 10K down at $412.00 per month.

Damn, I'm in.

I don't think the Credit Union is even making 2k on this seven year 30+K loan.
I'll be keeping her. She's just a weekend and nighttime ride. I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary.. And, I'm just about ready to hit one thousand miles.
Hey, I have a long 7 year note on it, but, at this rate, she'll be paid off around 2024 with under 10K miles on her...

If all goes good I'll be still alive.

For all of you young folks in your 20's - 30's?
Purchase this stuff now, you've got it made with all this cool tech and Horsepower.
When I turned 18 it was the end of the Muscle Car era.
Smog, Pollution controls, shortage of Gasoline did us in.
My 70 SS Camaro LT-1 with 360HP later dropped down to around 200hp.
My new 78 Camaro and new 81 Corvette were both F Vacuum cleaners that couldn't get out of their own way.
Enjoy these cool rides while you still can.

Nice!
I'm five years behind you but see no retirement anywhere close, private sector job.
Plan on keeping mine as well.
Six month anniversary this weekend, and I might break 8000 miles.
Hope it holds together long enough and the electronics don't crap out in 20 years, and I'll be happy.

I'm quite a bit younger than you but my plan is also to keep this car for a long time, provided that it remains reliable.

Full maintenance will be done with no exceptions, and I'll keep both the interior and exterior clean.

Let's see if I can keep this car for 30 years.

My plan was at least 20 years.

Saw a 2017 Yellow SS 1LE with just 700 miles on it (no PDR), clean Carfax/one owner, at Findley Honda in Henderson, NV for $32,9xx. It sold a couple of days ago.

There are still Brand new SS 1LEs on the lots for less than $36,000.00. I found one last week for $34,000.00 with 6 miles on it.

I've seen $11,600.00 Off MSRP.

Chevy sales are way down on Camaros.

With that said I'm buying a 2019 SS 1LE when I can find the right deal.

It's a 1SS, that's why. I am willing to bet that the majority of the 2018 1LE's left are 1SS's and with blah colors. Usually the ones that are left over and do not sell are the ones that are optioned or colored how nobody wants. This is usually the case with leftover prior year cars

The bright colors seem to be holding their value. :-)

Where did I say it wasn't a 1SS? That's what I'm buying in 2019.

You couldn't be more wrong on Color choice. Just about any color except green was available as of last week and maybe this week.

Not optioned correctly? Wrong again.

It ranges from fully loaded to 1LE package, Dual mode exhaust, Magnetic ride control and leather-trimmed Recaro.

Don't know where you are getting this info from but go to Cargurus and see the truth.

You want a 2SS, here ya go. $10,439 Discount. $42,141.00

MSRP = $52,580

The highest discount I saw was last week, $11,600.00 off.

No #%#%# way they are offering $11,000 off. Head over to the dealer and get a signed contract for that price. It won't happen.
