The literature is confusing my simple minded brain. Summit racing series? What is that? Is this new amendment for NHRA tracks in general? I was told my tech inspection last night that if I was faster than 11.49 I needed a cage. Granted I ran a 10.6 and they didn’t say anything.

Can we bring this topic up again? I ran into the same thing as Eyefixstuff. The tech guy said the same thing to me, but I also got into the 10’s and no one said anything. But I’d like to be 100% sure. Can I just show them the paperwork from the link in the OP’s first post? Would that cover us guys running 10’s?

NHRA tracks, you should be good to 10.000 if you use DOT radials instead of race slicks, and you wear an SFI 3.2A/1 racing jacket along with your Snell helmet. I've even had one of the tech guys at an NHRA track (Epping) tell me after that rule change was made that we (new cars) were now good to 10.000. Some of the tech guys might be locked onto the old way of thinking, but the rules are indeed changed.

Edited to add: I saw from your other post that you were at the Valley. That's an NHRA track so this rule does apply there.

I have been to 4 tracks this year. They all let me run into the low 10’s(6.50’s 1/8) without issue.

Thanks fellas. Do you have anything I can reference or print off to show an inspector that may not be up to date? Or just that original link?

I have nothing but one of the tracks was Topeka and that is a pretty legit track. The safety guy took one look at my car and said rule is 10.0 but they give about .1 cushion so 9.90 and slower would probably fly.

Maybe you could buy a current NHRA rulebook, and then if the tech guy tries to kick you out, you can prove that the official rules say that you're ok. Are you wearing an SFI-rated jacket and a Snell-rated helmet? Your Nitto drag radials should be DOT-labeled, which would meet the rules.

Rule book purchase is probably a good bet. I’m already good with my jacket, helmet, driveshaft safety loop, and DOT drag radials.

Edit: I just bought the rule book. Didn’t realize they were only $10!

Ok, after reading through the rule book, this looks like the section that covers us:
