Eh we all thought the TT LF3 would be the next powerplant to grace the camaro as well.

I knew it would happen eventually. And it is very likely to end up in the camaro.
A lot of people are mad the V models aren't going to be hyper-powerful anymore, but it makes sense to me. This really is the perfect engine for the cadillac sedans and also the next gen camaro. I feel very strongly that this engine is going to throw down some insane numbers. Obviously it will be much more powerful than the 6th gen 2.0T and V6. So that leaves the question, how will they play it?

IMO, they should just make it an optional engine on all trim levels, but they probably won't. I can see them making it optional on like 2LT and above trims, maybe a $2000 option. But will they drop one of the other engines? Which would it be and why?

Doubt this will happen. Its already lame shifting the LTG at 5400rpms for peak power in some gears. The 2.7 would be like 4600 rpms.. They would have to do cams min...Requiring a lot of extra costs to research and mass produce. The 10 speed would help, but IDK.

I second your sentiments on this. But GM is clearly phasing the 8 Speed out for the 10 Speed after they failed to just fix what we already know is the issue. Me and you fought the uninformed keyboard warriors on that issue in the Ask Al section to no avail... I wonder what the real play will be going forward. GM is fractured but as a company looking stronger each day while Ford has made some serious missteps and is paying for it this only serves to embolden more bad decision making from GM.

I'm honestly not sure if the next generation Camaro will get the L3B engine. The LSY, which is the successor to the LTG, is more focused on fuel economy than performance, and thus has a reduced output (~240 bhp, as opposed to 275 for the LTG). At the same time, the L3B makes almost as much power as the LGX or even the new 3.0 TT V6 going in the CT5, but doesn't sound like either engine because it's a 4-cylinder and not a 6, and some customers are gonna want at least a 6 cylinder in their base model Camaro. It's hard to say anything now, since we are quite a ways away from a new generation of Camaro, and who knows what powertrains GM will have available by then.

It's true, there are going to be some that will be outraged if the V6 goes away. And rightly so, it's a great powertrain.

Look at what happened with the 718 Cayman when it dropped to a turbo 4 from a flat six. People just about lost it completely.

What about this. What if instead of a 4/6/8 cylinder lineup, we get the L3B for a base engine and the 4.2L blackwing V8 as the uplevel engine?

Nahh. The blackwing will be exclusive to Cadillac only (Source: GMAuth).
And I know it hurts to know that the peak power will be at 4000RPM, but this is most likely what's gonna happen. Let's be real, the LT1 is at 4400, so 4000 isn't AS bad as it sounds.

I think the 6-cyl is out of the window after this one. Not to forget that there's a 1LT V8 coming in for the sound/vibration enthusiasts.
