A head to head never happened I don't believe. Many speculations as to why but that review probably won't happen. Which is a shame because the SS1LE has been compared H2H with the M4 but not the 350...

It was a base SS compared to an M4. The 1LE got compared to the astronomically more expensive M4 GTS during the BDC last year.

Except when it went up the C7 Z51. Then they sent the GT350TP to protect the R's image when it was sure to be beaten...badly.

And it was over a second slower than the C7 Z51.

I was including the Z06 in the comparison since it has been out since 2015 and Ford hasn't provided an answer to it. Also due to the fact that the Mustangs could only beat the Camaros that were a level or two below. And even then it wasn't by much as evidenced by the GT350 vs the SS or in 2017 with the GT350R vs the SS1LE. The GT500 will be the first time in the S550 that a Mustang will be on par with the Camaro on the same trim level. That is what I was really trying to say, lol! It wasn't a diss BTW.

Has the z51 and 1le been tracked same day?

Thought I remember them running very close.

Therefore one can surmise a 1le will run with or quicker than a non r 350.

I believe the SS1LE is quicker on most tracks versus the GT350 non R with 71 fewer (Mustang) horse's

And V6-1LE can hold up to the 15-17 GT PP with 100 fewer HP. The V6-1LE is basically a SS with 120 HP less so imagine how that would go.

And on one of the shorter track's, the V6 1LE put down the same time as a hellcat same day, same driver. The chassis is amazing, I do not have a 1LE but do have a 2016 manual V6 1LT lightweight and the car is very satisfying.

What track was this comparison on? Because the 'R' is a different animal that the base GT350. I believe it was Motor Trend that tested both at Laguna Seca, and the 'R' was 2 seconds quicker! So that 1 second loss to the C7 Z51 might have been a win for the 'R'.

As much as I love the GT350, I would take a Grand Sport any day of the week over it. That is hands down my favorite variant of the Corvette and I love that it's available with an automatic. Would love the limited edition one in gray with the blue interior.

I do have one question, why is everyone so obsessed with "this beats that at the track" and magazine times, when 95% of the people who buy one won't use it to the potential? Even less actually bring them to tracks/road courses. More people go drag racing than actual track racing.

Big Willow. The R should beat a C7 Z51. Afterall the Z51 is basically the same equipment as a base SS (with some exceptions). The GS would be the more comparable match to an R.

Indeed and the GS has posted some incredible lap times.

If you are referring to this track time of the C7, this was a base stingray, not a Z51.
